Belize is a small country in Central America. It's borders are surrounded by Mexico in the North, Guatemala in the West, Honduras in the South and the Caribbean Sea in the East. It was formerly a British colony, so English is one of the primary languages. It's a gorgeous country which boasts of mountains, rivers, Mayan ruins, jungle areas, and the second largest barrier reef in the world is just off it's shore. Our group is planning on spending 10 days there in August of this year. Our ministry there will likely be focused on manual labour like painting and doing small repairs. We also hope to visit a local orphanage one afternoon. Our time in Belize will also include touring the country and meeting it's people. We need lots of prayer as we seek the Lord's will in this venture. In 2000 we took 18 people down to Muncie, Indiana for a week of fun, laughter, learning, and most importantly, serving. We put the finishing touches on a house, built the outline for a wheelchair ramp, put up drywall, and lots of other little tasks as well. It was a great week to bond together as a group as we spent 24 hours in vans together (there and back), drove to an Indianapolis Indians baseball game, went shopping, and spent a day at the beach. In 2001 our trip was amazing. We worked on two houses doing many different jobs such as landscaping, painting, drywalling, putting up siding, roofing and we also helped out at a local education center. After work we relaxed by shopping, going to a baseball game, spending time at a local park, and on the 4th of July we had a great day at the beach and watching fireworks at night. The trip went safely except we had a close call when someone fell through a roof onto the floor below. But with many prayers, the individual was a little sore, but feeling great with no serious injuries. Also, during our trip home, we came close to some funnel clouds, but after waiting under a bridge for a bit, the coast was clear and we had a good trip home. The Lord's protection was clearly evident through the entire trip.
