| The "Kiyomizu Temple" was founded in 798 and reconstructed in 1633 by the third xogum Tokugawa, Iemitsu. The temple is located in one of the highest places of Kyoto. Its famous dark wood "varanda" is supported by 139 pilasters of 15m high each. The magnitude of the place as well as its height is so impressive that there is a japanese saying that if you will do something very audacious, you will "jump the Kiyomizu's varanda". | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| The "Heian" is considered "new" if compared to the other shrines in Kyoto. It was built in 1895 (YES! NEW and constructed that year!), for the celebrations of the 1.100th birthday of Kyoto's foundation. It is a replic of the first Imperial Palace, built in Kyoto in the year of 794. Also, people say that "if your favorite color is red" you will love this place. Well, in fact it is true! That gives an impression that the Heian Shrine is always "scintillating". | ||||||||||||||||||||||
