SPRING IN JAPAN
The first thing that comes to one's mind about Spring in Japan is the SAKURA. That means: the cherry trees are completely flowered and it is a tradition in Japan to make a picnic under these trees. At first, we did not undestand much of that tradition... but, after our first Sakura, we did not miss it in the other 4 years in Japan.

Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom festival) is held in Hirosaki Park in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. There are over 5,000 cherry trees on the grounds of Hirosaki Castle, a castle made famous by the great Osamu Dazai in his "Return to Tsugaru.". People say it is the second greatest Sakura Maturi in Japan and it is definitely pretty!!! The park's cherry blossoms are beautifully set off by the white of the castle walls and the green of the pine trees, making an enchanting sight for visitors and bringing out the very best of the spring season in Tsugaru.
