| We had the pleasure to visit Kyoto in October/1999. Kyoto is the most famous tourist detination in Japan and the pictures below can tell why. The "Pavilhao de Ouro" (Kinkakuji), is one among dozens beautiful attractions of "charming" Kyoto. It was built around 1390 as a "resting spot" for the xogum Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| The "Kinkakuji" has three floors and it's completely covered by gold! Well, its name says everything. It is gorgeuosly beautiful and on sunny days, the lagoon that surrounds the building reflects it in the water. That makes the "view" of the "Kinkakuji" even more magnific! We were lucky it was a shining day when we visited the "Pavilhao de Ouro". | ||||||||||||||||||||||

| Gyon District - Kyoto/Japan - October/1999 | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Gyon District is considered the most charming and romantic part of Kyoto. And that's the place one should go if wants to see a "gueixa". Well, going there doesn't mean that one will definately meet one... means that one may have the chance to see one!!! Luckly, we were walking at the Gyon and, by chance, we saw these "gueixas". Their kimonos and make up are extremely beautiful! Not to mention the delicate way they walk. People who do not know what "gueixas" do may think that they are prostitutes. It is not true! They are trained to entertain men with the simple purpose of making them feel like "kings" inside the pleasant "environment" of a "gueixa house". | ||||||||||||||||||||||
