Please find below the nowadays old news from the NEWZFLASH-es:
RHOON
It's quiet on the competition scheme: the injured knee didn't function correctly for some time and due to workload the training was cancelled often.
Therefore, unfortunately, there was no cycling in the 'home-competition' in Rhoon on 22 June 2004, causing some fear to Mom+Dad Hermens not to extend their Fen-membership. The Cyclizt made a special training tour Etten-Leur - Rhoon - Etten-Leur, with overnight, of in total 120 km on 26/27 June.
Now the Parentz will be reals Fenz for another year (and now some competitions to encourage the Cylizt...), and the Cyclizt is getting a bit more in shape for Hamburg (1 August).
KNEE-INJURY
The 140 km Amsterdam - Etten-Leur combined with the fall in Vlaardingen unfortunately caused a knee-injury to the Cyclizt.
Because of the swollen right knee it was not/hardly possible to train and therefore scheduled races were not cycled...
Knee is slowly transforming to it's normal shape, thus hopefully racing is started on 12 June again, with Plooy as Fen.
THE BROTHERS IN WORMERVEER
The brothers Hermens were in action in Wormerveer on 16 May. Plooy (SuperFEN 2003) and Johnny Bravo were present, however action was short. After 7 rounds the cyclist before Frenk couldn't follow the peloton, causing Frenk to stopp after round 8.
Howeverrrr, he was definitely not the first to quit! Unfortunately also Remco stopped the race after 25 rounds. Thus still no full race in 2004 for our Cyclizt...
On 17 May Frenk cycled from Amsterdam to Etten-Leur, 'only' 140 km, with a speed of 26 km/h. A praizeworthy activity of course!
Keeping up the good spirit and with more and more train-ingskilometers, let's continue for the next activity on the Schedule!
CRASH IN VLAARDINGEN
Pfff, SCARY! Shortly after starting the race in Vlaardingen (05-05) another cyclist collided with Frenk. This resulted in a crash of our Cyclizt, including a damaged safety helmet (luckily obliged in the race!) and scraped knee [addition: and blue face (nice stripe+blue eye) and scraped elbow]. In his fall Frenk crashed into another cyclist (broken collarbone or elbow). It was good to hear that everything seems OK.
Take your First Aid-diploma while supporting!
MAY SCHEDULE 2004
As promised the Cyclizt scheduled a diversity of May-competitionz. As usual with the common reservations (weather, form, cold, workload, lack of sleep, food, etc., etc.)...
Many Fens already announced their presence, thus the Fen of the Year 2004-competition is also started!
The schedule can be checked at
Rezults & Schedule
CLUB-CHAMPIONSHIPS BREDA KNOOPPUNT 2004
Frenk's competition season started: on 28 April the first race was driven on the terrain of the club.
The Elites, Amateurs A, B & C drove together in a race over 35 min. and 5 rounds.
The Cyclizt drove well in the peloton that formed, on the very wet asphalt, at some distance behind the Elites.
The Cyclizt was spotted several times in front, critically looked at by Aspirant Fen Marjon (now upgraded to Fen) and the webmissstress.
After 35 min. the Cyclizt lost the group and stopped the race. Mean speed 39 km/h.
A promising start of the season, thus continue training and start driving many races.
Keep track of the races at

AMSTEL GOLD TOURVERSION 2004
The Tourversion of the Amstel Gold Race was driven by the Cyclizts Frenk en Remco.
The 150 km [152.4] was cycled in 6h 34min [23.2 km/h].
Unfortunately that is only somewhat faster than in 2003, buttt
this was maybe caused by a) the hot weather, b) the high startspeed and/or
c) the 2 ladies that spotted the guys 6x on their way and
'seduced' them 3x for a short conversation... (but also provided drinks!).
The (Dutch) story on the day can be read on
Amstel Gold RushFrom now races will be scheduled, ssso check regularly at the

TRAINING-UPDATE
In March and April the Cyclizt started training very hard.
Two times there was trained at the Club.
Unfortunately the 3rd time was cancelled due to the weatherconditions,
however Frenk already cycled to the club (and went home soaken wet...).
During a week of 'holiday' there was a cycling zession on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug near Plooij
and with Broermans there was a succezfull trainingzession in Limburg.
Rezult: in 6 days almost 450 km of cycling!!
Training for the Amstel Gold Race (tourversion 150 km) on 17th of April is in full swing!
After this, races will be planned, so

January 2004
Of course all the best for 2004 for the Fens.
Frenk may perform in cycling competition already in January!
This would then be a club/training competition at 'De Mol'.
Meanwhile he cycled to work already 2 times.
And on a sunny Wednesday (21-01) even a spontaneous trainingssession was scheduled!
The Amstel Gold Race (April) is signed up for.
The (Dutch) Fens already look forward to the pie, at a too low amount of km's/h (to be determined).

Su. 31 August 2003
Frenk + Brother finished the Amstel Gold Race!
The 150 km was cycled in 6h 26m 12s (23.3 km/h)
without 1x stop + 2x flat tyre mean speed was 25.3 km/h!
PERFECT PERFORMANCE, however, the pie-limit was 28 km/h, thus...!!

Following some minor start-up problems (license, registration, training)
the cycling career of 'our' Frenk finally started in June 2003,
obviously followed by a growing amount of Fens, united in this Fenclub.
