THE SUBSTITUTION METHOD

| First you find your equations. | In this problem the equations are y=2x-1 and 8=x+y |
| Next you need to get one of the variables on a side by itself. Since one of the variables is already on a side by itself you can leave it the way it is. | y=2x-1 |
| Next substitute the value of the variable that is alone in the other problem. In this case it is the y. | 8=x+(2x-1) |
| Once you have them together, solve for the variable. | 3x=9, x=3 |
| When you have that, plug it into one of the original equations. | y=2(3)-1, y=5 |
| Now you have your answer | (3,5) |
That was easy, sign me up for another one.
