Welcome back to school!  Please review your syllabi which were distributed in class.  Just a reminder:  I do have an "open-door policy", so if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!  The best times would be before or after school, or during one of my prep periods.  You can also write me a note, or e-mail me!  Looking forward to a blessed year!
        HOMEWORK AND ANNOUNCEMENTS (PLEASE REFER TO APPROPRIATE CLASS)

ALL CLASSES
Homework: Please gather these materials as follows, by Thursday, September 14, 2006

(1) $5 (Five dollars) for recorder (if not already submitted)
(2) Two (2) Student folders PER CLASS, labelled clearly with student name and class title
     (Grade 6: total 6 folders; Grades 7/8: total 8 folders)
(3) Two (2) pencils with eraser(s) (can be separate)
(4) Pens (any type except permanent markers; gel pens should be approved by teacher)
(5) "Art Bag" (a large freezer bag will suffice) with...
      (6) colored pencils
      (7) crayons
      (8) watercolors
      (9) scissors
      (10) water-based markers
      (11) glue stick
      (12) handheld manual (non-electric/non-battery operated) pencil sharpener
**(13a) One (1) box of kleenex -
Grade 6 only
**(13b) One (1) roll of paper towels -
Grades 7 and 8 only
(14) One 1-1/2" 3-Ring Binder to remain in class, to be used as class portfolio for ALL students.
(15) Clipboard (to hold 8-1/2 x 11 paper)
(16) Pack of 2"x2" post it notes - any color
(17) Unlined paper... Each folder should have at least 5 clean sheets at all times.
(18) Lined paper (college -or- wide-ruled)... Each folder should have 10 clean sheets at all times.
(19) Independent Reading Book -
Grades 7 and 8 only...books can be acquired from class, or from the school or public library.  September Special:  Read a "classic" for bonus points.
**These items will remain and be shared in class.

LANGUAGE ARTS 7 and 8
Homework:  Reflective Writing due September 13, 2006 
Topic ("Writing Prompt"):  Each summer break gives us an opportunity to refresh and relax ourselves; we take time to do things that we want to do.  What are some of the activities you participated in?  How did they help you rejuvenate?  Were these activities similar to what you participated in last year?
*For this writing response ("essay"), here is a suggested format for paragraphing:
P1. Describe your summer
P2. Positives and negatives of your summer (compare and contrast with last summer)
P3. Learned/ To do's/ Questions/ Evaluation
