Christmas Program
Dear Kid,

I am writing to inform you that starting on November 9th, 2005, we will be having a "mixer."  What this means is that when you come through the door, you will be given a number.  Once you get this number, you will have to find the matching number on one of the tables.  That is where you will be sitting for that day, for breakfast and lunch.

The reason for this, is because the intermediate classes have been participating in the Reserved Seating Area time, created by students.  Some people think that it should be more than that, the students could get to know each other a little better, rather than sitting with the same kids over and over agin.  This is how to make new friends, or get to know your friends even more.

Another reason for this change is that it could help some students with their people skills for the future.  For example, a shy person could learn to open up to more peoplen than to themselves more often.  And, if you go to another school, and you sit with a group of people that you dont' even know, you could introduce yourself to the group, and they will do the same.  This is usually the result of a student being comfortable around different people, so that is one reason why the school decided to do this mixer.

One more reason is that people will be happier around other people.  This means that they can get better communication skills. If you already have good languag, then you can maybe learn more skills.  Then you might get better grades by just sitting with the people that you did.  You could learn more by sitting, either with a seventh grader, or an eighth grader, or anyone you know!

So think about this!  Wouldn't you like it if you could get your grades up, by just sitting with a different person from another group?  You could make new friends, and you would be a happier person than right now.
