Dare to Sing Again!
As some of you are aware, we are trying to put up a talent hunt show / praise concert of
some sort at Fego in Dare Sanya's honor. I'm really interested in having those of us who knew him (especially while @ Fego)
at the programme.
The programme is two-thronged. One is based on Dare's own dream to organize a talent hunt show on his
birthday every year. It was supposed to be his contribution to music development amongst young people.
We were in the process of planning the first one for Sept 30 2002 (his 22nd birthday), when he passed away
April 12 the same year. I (and a couple of other folks who were part of the initial plan) decided to
continue with that dream. So the first part of the programme is called "DARE Talent Hunt Show". It will
feature 20 participants competing for the top three positions. The first price is set at a scholarship to
a standard music summer school (probably the MUSON) plus a cash award, and the two runners up will have
cash awards.
The second part of the programme is simply a praise concert to celebrate the young man's life and times
and as well praise God for the opportunity of gathering together again. I have promised Balo that we will
be bringing together folks from Fego and outside who were musically oriented to relive the magical musical
moments we had in Fego.
The programmes are billed to hold as follows:
Friday 1st October: Competition preliminaries - 20 contestants reduced to 10. We all don't have to be there. Just a few music freaks who will handle the judging. Fortunately, the
day is a public holiday.
Saturday 30th October: Fellowship time - Dare to Sing Again Phase I
A praise and worship experience championed by the students themselves.
Saturday 30th October: After dinner (Assembly Hall) - Dare to Sing Again Phase II. A celebration of the life and times of Dare Sanya, reliving the Fego
years in contemporary praise and worship, led by Fego Old Students and Friends of Dare
November 6: DARE Talent Hunt Show Preliminaries
November 20: DARE Talent Hunt Show Finals
Sunday 3rd October: Chapel service
The November dates are subject to approval by the school and chapel
authority but I don't envisage any problems. Anyone interested in
