*** The Next Day ***
The next morning, I got a fright when I found myself lying beside Dunk. I got out of the bed quickly and went to the kitchen to make a strong cup of tea, but then I was feeling nauseous. I went straight for the bathroom; Dunk came in to check to see if I was ok as he heard me throwing up. I bit his head off saying "No, I'm not. Get out" "Sorry, I asked. I was only looking out for you" "Yea, do that so." It took me a while to get myself in a composed mood after all I was having a scan at the hospital a couple hours later. I went to my room to get dressed and freshen up.
Two hours later, dunk and I arrived at the hospital; Dunk had disguised himself a small bit by wearing sunglasses and a cap. We were called in for the ultrasound scan, we heard the baby's heartbeat and everything was perfect. I took a glance at Dunk; he was in awe and had some tears of joy seeing his baby on the screen. We had decided last night not to know whether the baby was a boy or a girl until the day I give birth. Before we left, we were given a picture of the scan. Dunk just stared at it as we made our way out of the hospital.
We stepped outside the entrance of the hospital, before we knew a photographer snapped us as we got into the car. I started crying and said to Dunk, "Why won't they leave us alone?" "That's because I'm a celebrity, they just want exclusive pictures to fill up their papers. Please don't get very upset, it's not good for the baby" "You right, it's not" "I'm always right, aren't I?!" "Haha, most times" "Cheek of ya" giving me a light punch to my arm. We went off back to Lee's flat. I was in a complete wreck when I got inside, I got a fright when I saw Lee and Katy were *coughs* u know! Dunk came in after me; I turned around and dragged Dunk with me. "Why are you dragging me away?" "Because the two are U know" "Ah" "Yea, that's right. I just ran back out the door but they already had seen me. Whoops." Dunk burst out laughing, "Oh, Lee always walked in on us, remember" "Oh yea, that's right." looking away from Dunk. We walked to the park that was only a few minutes away from Lee's flat. We found a bench to sit, and well some people recognised Dunk so they asked him for an autograph and photo!! Some even wished us good luck with our baby so the news ended up in the papers today! I wandered off leaving Dunk with the queue of people coming up to him. I kept walking and found a place under a tree to sit to think. I asked myself, "Am I ready to be a mother? How am I going to cope?" I didn't even realise that Dunk was standing beside me until he snapped me from my thoughts. "Cat" "Yea?" "You okay?" "Yea, just thinking" "About what?" "Everything" "Oh god, you are not having second thoughts about the baby" "No, I'm not. Since I came to London to meet Katy and Sarz, everything changed from the day I met you in the restaurant, we been together for how long � 6 months until last week. Where have all the time gone, Duncan?" "Yea, it was 6 months just like Katy with Lee and Sarz with Marky! When I met you, you changed my life around and I respected you doing so. I can't wait for the day the baby arrives and I know you will make a great mom for 'our' baby." "Awww thanks, that means a lot. You make a good father too." Dunk leaned in and lovingly gave me a hug. "Arghhh, I'm going to cry again. I can't seem to stop crying all the time" "That's probably expected with the hormones going haywire during pregnancy. Don't worry too much, babe. I think we better get back to the flat, it's getting cold" "Hmm, you seem to know a lot. Yea, we should get back." We walked back to the flat in silence. Dunk checked to see if the coast was clear before I go inside, it was okay to come in. Anyway, I went straight to the kitchen as I was hungry, Katy came in and asked, "What's the story with U and Dunk?" "How did ya mean?" "Well, ye two spent the day together, are ye back on?" "No, we are not back together. In fact, we were at the hospital this morning for the scan" "I want you two back together, you are prefect for each other. Oh, is everything okay with the baby?" "Yea, everything is fine. Dunk has the picture of the scan if you want to see it." Katy and I went to the sitting room to join the lads. Dunk was showing the picture to Lee. Lee bundled over towards us and gave me a hug. "Congrats, darling. You two will make great parents for the little one" "Thanks Lee."
Later that evening, we had more visitors to the flat, Sarz and Mark and also Stacey with Darius called by as well. I hadn't heard from Emma for a few days even though I sent her a text last night. Dunk and Mark went to the off-license to get more drinks. *rolls eyes* They finally came back with the drinks, Dunk then emerged from the kitchen a few minutes later with a bucket of ice along a bottle of champagne. "Where did ya get that?" "I got it in the pub, I asked the barman for one. Darius asked, "What's the occasion?" "Cat and I are going to be parents in 7 months." Stacey jumped off the couch and congratulated us. "Congratulations" "Thanks Darius." We drank all the champagne through the night, after a while I sensed something was up between Stacey and Darius. I asked Stacey to come to the kitchen to tidy up the mess in there. "What's up?" "Nothing, is everything okay with you and Darius?" "Honestly, it's not going great. We just lost the spark in our relationship. We have been arguing a lot over little things. I guess it's not to work in the long term. I'm going to tell him it's over" "Awww, I'm very sorry it didn't work out. Oh well, there's plenty more fish in the sea" "Yea, that is true. I wish you and Dunk get together again and be a proper family when the baby is born" "Well it's not going to happen and he knows that" "That's sad" just as Dunk walked in and wondered what was going on. For some reason, I snapped at him "We just cleaning up the kitchen and chatting. Is that good enough reason for you?" "Okay, no need to take it out at me. Are you okay?" "Of course, I'm okay. I'm just tired" "Then, go to bed and sleep" "Maybe" "No maybes. You need your sleep." I didn't realise that Stacey slipped out of the room quietly. "I know that, for god's sake. I'm the one carrying your baby." I stormed past him and into my room. I slammed the door behind me and got into bed. It took me ages to get to sleep�.
Chapter 34
*** Back at Work *** - Two Days Later
Today, I was back to work along with Stacey and Emma after a fortnight break over the Xmas holidays!! I was to be meeting Daniel as I wanted to know what to do since I am expecting. (Maternity leave and blah blah) I would continue working until 6 weeks before the baby is due. Daniel told me in the meeting that he had been talking to Dunk over the weekend. He said that Dunk was looking forward to be a father which he had been saying constantly since he found out the news. I rolled my eyes at Daniel and said, "I know, Dunk never shut up talking about it."
Anyway, I got back to reception with the two answering the telephones and tending to customers. I sat down and read through the email queries and sorting the post for each department in the record company. I was grateful that I was feeling much better today than I did in the last two weeks; unfortunately Dunk had been spending a lot of time at Lee's flat since New Year's to be near me and our baby! *rolls eyes* I felt my space was invaded by Dunk but then Lee spends more time at Katy's than he does in his own flat! Although, Dunk wasn't around last night but Lee was for a change!! We had a great chat about everything, Katy, the band and about ourselves. He told me how much he loves Katy and that he doesn't ever to lose her ever for as long as they are together. To be honest, I didn't realise Lee had a different side to him � a caring, gentle, understanding of things, even though he have a cheeky funny side as well! *rolls eyes* It was then listening to Lee talk about Katy; I just knew straightaway that they were meant to be for LIFE!
It was time for our lunch break, we went to a pizzeria. To my surprise, I was very hungry, sure ain't I eating for two! Stacey told us that she broke up with Darius over the weekend. Emma was still going with Matt, the two had went to Paris for the New Year, so that's why I didn't hear from her for a few days. So, that left Stacey and me without a fella in our lives. I was stuffed after the lunch. We had a lot of catch up on news after our well-deserved break from work! It was time to get back to work; we were very busy for the rest of the day. Eventually, we were finished the day's work until tomorrow! I was just about to get a taxi home when dunk turned up, he thought he come to collect me from work, it was nice of him at least I didn't have to spend money for the taxi. *rolls eyes* Not a lot was said in the car back to Lee's flat, although Duncan told me he had something for me, I said, "Oh great, another one as usual" "I think you will love it" "Well, it depends on what it is" shaking my head. "Well, you will find out tonight." We arrived at the flat; Lee wasn't in so he must be at Katy's! I thought to myself, "What an interesting night it's going to be with Dunk." I made some sandwiches and tea for myself, Dunk didn't want anything. He had a huge smile on his face. "Well, am I going to find out what's the surprise is?" "You find out once you're finished eating and we go out" "What? I'm not going out again to find out whatever the surprise is" "You got to, please. You are coming with me and no buts" "Fine, whatever" giving him a glare.
Ten minutes later, we went out. I was still glaring for having to go out again but then again I was curious where Dunk was taking me and we did, we arrived outside a block of apartments. I asked, "What's going on?" with Dunk leading me inside and into the lift. We arrived on the 2nd floor, stood outside door 210, he then handed me a key. "Open the door" so I did. I let out a gasp; it was a beautiful 2-bedroomed apartment with stunning views of London. "Welcome to your new home" "What? Tell me you are joking" "No, I'm not joking. This is for you and the baby" "Have you gone mad? I'm not taking it, you only doing this so we can get back together" "What? I'm not trying to get you back; you already said there's no chance of us getting back together. I want to buy a place where you and the baby can live and here is the perfect place" "It's lovely of you but I don't think I can accept it. I'm sorry" "How dare you throw it in my face, especially I bought and paid for the apartment. I just don't understand you anymore" "Well, I don't even know myself anymore." I stormed out of the apartment. I didn't know where to go, so I managed to find a taxi home, I sat in the taxi crying. I got home, I didn't realise that Lee had came home. He saw my face tear-stained "What did Dunk do now to upset ya?" "I don't want to talk about it; I just want to be left alone please" "Are you okay?" "Yes, I want to be on my own. You know me I always bounce to life." I quietly went to my room and cried again and again.
Sometime later, I must have fallen asleep because I heard shouting that had woken me up. It was Lee shouting at Dunk. I got out of bed, and went out. I shouted "SHUT UPPPPP, the pair of ye please." The two stopped straightaway. "Duncan, you get out. Lee, sit down." Dunk protested, but I told him once more to get out because I was sick of seeing his face. He eventually did leave the flat slamming the door behind which jolted me. I sat down besides Lee and said, "Please don't mess your friendship with Dunk, it's all my fault that it's such a mess with me and Dunk, and it effecting others around us. I still love him but I can't take him back. Please sort it out between yourselves before it gets out of hand. Promise?" "I promised but I hate seeing you crying and upset all the time since he found out about you expecting. I just want you as you always were laughing and smiling even Katy hates seeing you being sad, you two are the best of friends and not forgetting Sarz too. Remember they are there for you and me as well of course, living with you here. Chin up, darling." I was in tears after hearing Lee say all those. "Wow that just took my breath away. I really appreciate with what you trying to keep my spirits up. Anyway, I'm going back to bed, got work in the morning" "Me too. Night" "Night." I went to bed and went to sleep�
