*** Christmas Eve ***
I woke up bright and early with a happy feeling within me! *smiles* Duncan came in with a breakfast tray. "Aww, you shouldn't have done this for me." "I wanted to, besides I won't see you till Monday. Do you want me to pick you up from the airport?" "Yeah, if you want to." "Love you, darling" "Love you too" eating my toast. "Forgot to ask, what time are you leaving?" "I'm leaving around half eleven to pick up mother on the way to the airport." "Shall I give you your x-mas present before you go?" "Yes, please" I went off to get his present. I had got him a jacket which cost me a good bit of money but it was worth it especially it's for Duncan. Duncan absolutely loved the jacket, so I was pretty relived that he liked it. I had already got Dunk's present which was the ring he bought for me in Manchester but I didn't know that he got me another present. He got me a new camera phone which I was happy but he spent so much money on me between the phone and the ring. I jumped on Duncan and thanked him for the presents. He went off to pack his bag for Paris while I went to get dressed. I was to be meeting Katy a couple of hours later to do a bit of last minute shopping. He left at half eleven, we had a huge hug on the driveway and waved him off.
I went back inside and tidied up the house and put some Xmas stuff around the place. I then put on something for myself to eat before going to Katy's house. My taxi was to be here in about an hour to drive me to Katy's place as I was staying the night there. I arrived at Katy's safely and went out the door ten minutes later after arriving. We managed to get bit and pieces, I had bought chocolates and wine for Lee's mom as an appreciation for letting me share the x-mas day with them. We got home hours later; we talked and drank for most of the evening, Lee was there with us!!! Eventually we all went to bed.
Chapter 28
*** Christmas Day ***
Christmas day arrived; Katy and Lee had woken me up very early by coming into the room shouting and screaming "Merry Xmas Catherine"!! I was telling them to shut up; anyway they dragged me out of the bed and into the sitting room. We passed presents between the three of us. Katy got fabulous presents from Lee including a brand new camera phone!! I left the two alone and headed back to bed to sleep for another while. I could hear Katy and lee whispering about Dunk not being here with me on Xmas day and all the rest. Duncan doesn't enjoy Christmas much since the deaths of his grandparents. I heard Lee say to her, "I'm gutted but you know what Duncan's like at Xmas too but we gonna have to cheer Cat up lots today at my mom." I nodded off sleep until some time later, my mobile was ringing. I sleepily answered it and "Merry Xmas, Cat" "And the same to you, babe" "Were you asleep?" "Yea, I was but thanks for waking me up" "How's Paris?" "Paris would be so much better if you were here but oh well. What can we do about it?" We talked for a little while until I had to get ready to go to Lee's mom. Before we ended the call, Dunk told me the three little words but I didn't bother saying it back as I hung up the phone. Anyway I got dressed in warm clothes as it was a very cold day outside. I texted Stacey, Emma and friends back home in Ireland wishing them all a happy Xmas and have a great day! Stacey was home in Scotland with Darius while Emma went home to Dublin for Christmas.
Katy, Lee and I headed off to his mom's about an hour later. Lee introduced Katy and me to his family that was there. I gave Sheila the chocolates and a bottle of wine as a thank you present. We sat down and chatted to everyone before dinner was ready. Sometime later dinner was ready; we sat in our seats placed for each of us. The dinner was fabulous; we got a little bit tipsy on the drink though! *rolls eyes* Katy and Lee were doing a good job cheering me up by filling up my glass of drink! We had a singing session which Katy and I sang 'Ladies Night' with the two of us teasing Lee!! *laughs* Lee was certainly enjoying the entertainment from us, hehe! Lee's sister Gillian and her fianc� were laughing their heads at us messing around with Lee!!
We got home in the early hours of the morning, we left Lee's mom sitting room in a bit of a mess but Sheila didn't mind as long we had a great day. I stumbled into bed and fell asleep straight away.
Chapter 29 � Three Days Later
*** Shane's wedding ***
Today was the marriage of Shane Filan and Gillian to take place at Ballinitubber Abbey and the reception at Ashford Castle. Katy, Lee and I had arrived for the wedding yesterday, so Mark and Sarz had met us at the airport. Sarz had spent Xmas with Mark and his family, Sarz loves being in Ireland. We were all staying at the hotel, so that was grand. I grabbed a shower before putting on my dress I had bought just before Xmas. I put on my makeup and let my hair down instead of having it up. Duncan had texted me telling me to have a great day and he can't wait to see me tomorrow. I have to admit that I'm having doubts with our relationship but I pushed the thoughts at the back of my head as I was going to enjoy myself at the wedding with or without Dunk. I sent Katy a text that I meet her in reception when she and Lee are ready. Sarz, Byran, Kerry, Nicky and Georgina were already in reception. Mark and Kian were with Shane as they were groomsmen's for him. I had noticed Jodi wasn't there so I asked Sarz where was she? Sarz then told me that Kian and Jodi had split up a couple of weeks before, she was surprised that I didn't know. I told her back that I probably was caught up in work and didn't have time to catch up on the news. Anyway, Katy and Lee finally appeared and we got into awaiting ones to take us to the church.
As we were coming near the church, we noticed there was a lot of fans there and of course the media too" we posed for pictures together and waved to the fans while making our way into the church. I was gobsmacked with what inside the church was decked out, it was absolutely spectacular. It had an intimate feeling aroma inside. We could hear cheering outside; it was Shane arriving along with the men! I turned to Sarz, "Wow, Mark is gorgeous. I bet you two will be the next WL couple to marry after Shane." She replied, "Mark is always sexy looking, I love him so much" which brought tears to my eyes.
Gillian arrived 30 minutes later, as we heard the screaming outside so we knew she had arrived. She walked up the aisle with her father giving her away, wearing a beautiful white dress! The wedding ceremony was lovely and was over in an hour. We went back to Ashford Castle for the reception. The dinner was fabulous, the speeches were good and with some funny stories. Everything was almost done traditionally. Shane then told us that there is a free bar running all night, so we can drink as much as we can!
We spent the night dancing and drinking! Some hours later, I was already drunk that Kian asked me to dance with him until Nicky told us that we were standing under the mistletoe. We took glances at each other, so we kissed and well it was pretty full on until Nicky pushed us apart and said to me, "Cat, I think you need to turn around." I turned around and ended up facing Dunk standing before me. He was glaring at me and grabbed my arm. "Dunk, it's not what you think but what are you doing here?" Kian and the others watched Dunk dragging out of the room. He took me to my room; I opened the door as I had the key. He pushed me onto the bed and slapped me hard on the face. It took me a few minutes to get round it, my face was just numb. "You bitch, cheating behind my back. How long had it been going on?" I looked at him in tears, "I would never cheat on you, and how you could accuse me. That just tore my heart apart hearing you say it. There's nothing going on, we just happened to be under the mistletoe and yes we kissed" "You are lying, I just realised why you had been quiet for the last while so that why you wouldn't let me near you since you were two-timing me with Kian." "FFS, that is so out of order. Anyway, you didn't answer my question." "What question?" "Why are you here?" "I came to surprise you, no-one knew about it because if I told Lee about the plan, he will let it slip." "Oh yeah, Lee always does." I was shocked at Dunk's behaviour toward me. "I still don't believe you. I wonder what will Jodi say about it?" "She couldn't care less, she and Kian had split up a couple of weeks ago, I only found out today. So there." "Yea, right." "Well, in that case, it's over between us. You know what? I was having doubts about us and tonight just proved it. Goodbye and Good Luck in the future." "That's f****** great news, I'm delighted to be shot of you." Before I left the room, I took the ring off he got me for Xmas and threw it at him.
I slammed the door behind and went back to the wedding party as if nothing had happened. Katy and Sarz ran over as soon they seen me, asking questions but first I needed a drink to calm my nerves. I took a deep breathe and said "I finished with Dunk; he accused me of having an affair with Kian which I am not. I got to admit since the tour ended, our relationship took a bit of nosedive but it wasn't the same when we first started going out. I guess I fell out of love with him." They gave me a group hug, they headed back to Mark and Lee while I went outside for fresh air even though it was freezing cold but I had my jacket. I wandered around the castle grounds, until someone came from behind me. It was Kian, checking to see if I was ok. "Do I look ok, Kian? No, I dumped him, and you know what is even
worse, he accused me of having an affair with you behind his back." I started crying, he lent me his shoulder to cry on. "I'm sorry, I guess the kiss went a little too far but we weren't to know that he was going to turn up to surprise you." "I'm sorry that Dunk was here to see it happen, we were plastered anyway." Then, we heard Nicky calling us, that they were about to start the firework display. We watched the amazing fireworks lighting up the sky and the grounds too. I thanked Kian for lending his shoulder to cry on. We all made our way back inside to party. I bumped into Shane and Gillian; they had heard what happened as they were sorry to hear about us splitting up. I apologised for disrupting their wedding over the Dunk incident. They told me to stop apologising and that it was not my fault, it was Dunk's. As we were entering the room, I heard someone say "Catherine, I'm sorry about tonight. Shane and Gillian, I'm sorry for gate crashing the wedding. Cat, can we give it another go? I still love you with all my heart. I want to sing this song and you know it, babe." I stood there rooted to the spot, he started to sing 'When Summer's Gone' which was mine and Dunk's song since he dedicated the song to me during the 'Guilty' tour at Wembly. I left the room while he was still singing. There was no way I was going to give us another go. Kian ran after me, "Where are you going?" "Back to my room, I probably have to share the room with him but I don't want to see him." "You can stay in my room. It's up to you, I don't mind at all." "If you are sure, I will stay in your room, but first I need to get all my stuff from the room. Will you give me a hand? And I don't want any funny business, you know what I mean" "No, I'm not going to try anything on with you." We gathered up my things and went to Kian's room. "Will you do me a favour? Keep out of Dunk's way while he's still here." "Sure, I will. "You can go back to the party; I want to be on my own. Is that okay?" "Are you sure, Cat?" "Yes, I am and tell Katy and Sarz that I'm fine and not to worry." "Ok, I see you later." Kian left and I was on my own. I sat in the chair looking out the window thinking about tonight, the good times I had with Dunk. I couldn't get my head around with what went wrong in our relationship. Was it the time spent apart between the band and me with work or whatever it was? I just don't know. I must have fallen asleep in the chair some hours later.
