CHAPTER 86

When I go back to Dunk he's slowly sipping his coffee.
"You wanted to talk about the baby?" he softly asks when I've finished my tea. I nod.
"Have you started thinking of names for it yet?" I ask him.
He shakes his head surprised. "You want to decide for names together?"
"Yes of course! Dunk, it's as much your baby as it is my baby! You'd better start thinking of names, we'll talk about it again some other time."
"Okay," he nods smiling.
"We have to decide together on all important things. You start. What's important to you?" I ask him.
"I would like to have our baby baptized."
"Me too," I nod.
"Lee" we both say at the same time and instantly stop talking. I look deep into his eyes.
I nod smiling: "Lee should be its godfather."
"Exactly. Now you name something that's important to you," he looks at me expectantly.
"I want to raise it bilingual. Learn it Dutch and English at the same time."
"I already thought so. I speeded up learning Dutch," he smiles.
That surprises me! I know he was studying Dutch when we were together, but somehow I assumed that he stopped.
"What nationality will it have?" he asks me.
"If I deliver in the Netherlands, it will have the Dutch nationality. But if it's born in England, it will have both English and Dutch nationality, because I'm Dutch. I'm planning on moving here in a few months, and I want to give birth here in London. So there won't be any troubles when it has to go to school, and later in life."
"Good thinking."
"Will you officially state after the birth that you're the father? To give you parental rights," I ask.
He hesitates.
Sh*t! He doesn't want to?
"I'd like you to do that, if you want of course" I quickly say.
"I'd love to! I just didn't know if you wanted that," he nods vigorously.
"Than why didn't you ask? You can ask me anything!"
"Okay. Is there anything else?" he smiles.
"Not that I can think of right now," I shake my head slightly.
"Oh," he softly says and looks at his hands. He opens his mouth to say something but than he closes it again.
"Say it," I push him.
"Can I be with you when it's being born?" he starts to blush.
I haven't even thought about the delivery yet! I'm scared of it, I always push away the thoughts about it. But he's right to ask I'd better start thinking about it!
"Iris?" he says carefully when I haven't answered him.
"Oh sorry. I haven't actually thought about who I want to be there. But you can be there of course!" I smile.
"Thanks," he quietly says and grabs my hand.
I can see tears in his eyes. I bend over to him and give him a kiss on his lips
