| CHAPTER 71
The next day, Sunday afternoon "Oh come on Iris! I've never seen you this lazy before!" Lee calls out impatient. "I know," I sigh. "I even annoy myself! Where are my shoes?" I look around. "Probably where you left them last night," Lee rolls his eyes. I give a deep sigh and get up from the couch. "Are you sure you wanna go over to Dunk's place? You don't seem too enthusiastic," Lee asks. "Yeah. He's gonna make dinner for all of us. Unless you're gonna cook?" I nod. "No way! I'm not gonna cook because you are too lazy to get your @ss to my car," he laughs. I poke my tongue out at him. When we arrive at Dunk's place Ant, Sy and Tia are already there. "I have to go to the gynecologist next Friday. Tia has to work, so anybody else who wants to go with me?" I ask, looking around at the guys. "I'll go with you," Lee says immediately. "Thanks," I smile at him. I look at Dunk. He looks a bit disappointed that Lee's coming with me. "You wanna come too?" I ask him. "If it's okay with you?" he says carefully. I nod smiling. "I'd love to," Dunk gives me a happy smile. After about an hour Dunk gets up to make dinner. "Anybody who'll give me a hand?" he asks, secretly looking at me. "Iris will help you! She's so lazy, she made me bring her breakfast, I made lunch for her, I almost had to carry her to my car," Lee calls out. I start to grin badly. "And you didn't carry her? You lazy git!" Tia calls out at Lee. We all start to laugh out loud. "I have to take care of myself all week, so it was nice to have you bring me food and drinks," I grin at Lee. "As if I don't take care of myself all week," Lee shakes his head laughing. "I'll help you," I nod at Dunk and follow him. "Is there something you want to talk to me about? I got that feeling," I turn to Dunk when we're alone in the kitchen. "Erm well you already asked me to go to the gynecologist. I don't want to ask too much of you," he says uncomfortable. "I asked you to come, so you can ask me, whatever it is," I smile. "Okay. You can say no, or think about it as long as you want, I don't wanna rush you, and it's still early," he says. "Come on, what is it? You're making me curious," I laugh. "Well, we've never talked about it, but I really wanna be there for your baby, our baby. Maybe something like Ant has arranged, he has Emily usually in the weekends. I wanna give the baby a second home here, so I was thinking that I could make a baby room in the room upstairs," he says, talking quickly. He's fiddling with his hands. Actually, he looks a bit embarrassed! "Oh Dunk! Of course that's okay! OMG! Now I see that I've treated you really bad that you hardly dare to talk about our baby with me!" I call out, feeling really guilty. "No! You've never treated me bad. I know it was all really painful, because you were with Lee. And Lee was disappointed, so I understand that you wanted to be with him," he shakes his head. "Yeah, but you were really happy with the baby, and I made you feel bad about it. I'm really sorry Dunk," I say. I put my finger on his lips, because he wants to say more. "I want you to be a real dad for our baby, no matter where I live or with who I live by than. It's a really great idea to make a baby room here," I smile with tears in my eyes. He has a really really big smile on his face now. I give him a big hug and he gives me a kiss on my forehead. "Do you know yet where you're gonna live when you've finished your study?" he asks me. "I've discussed it with my parents. They will help me buy a house, and I'll pay them back later." "Where are you gonna get a house?" he asks, looking deep into my eyes. "You wanna know if I'm gonna live close to you," I smile. He nods expectantly. "I'm not totally sure yet, but it'll probably London. My best friends live here!" He gives me a hug and whispers: "I'm glad to hear that." "You mean the room next to the bedroom?" I ask. "Yeah. Do you wanna help me decorate it? You don't have your own house to decorate yet," he looks at me expectantly. "I'd love that! But I bet you've already planned some things, didn't you?" I laugh. He laughs back and nods. "Wanna see?" he asks. I start to grin. "Sure, why not?" He's all enthusiastic now. He takes my hand and I follow him upstairs. He points where he wants to put the cradle and all the furniture. "Do you want to know if it's a boy or a girl?" I ask him. "Do you?" he turns at me. "Dunk, I'm not the one who's gonna make all of the decisions. It's your baby too. Do you wanna know?" I smile at him. "No. And I think you don't want to either." "You're right," I nod. "So, what colors do you want for this room?" I ask. "I don't know yet. But no pink, no green, and no orange because I know you hate orange," he grins. "Yellow and blue." "What?" he says surprised. "Yellow and blue. Imagine: blue like the sky. The sky by day and by night. And yellow like the sun, the moon and the stars," I spread my arms, pointing at the sky through the window. "Perfect," Dunk says softly. "You know why I choose this room for the baby? Because it's next to the bedroom, and" "Because of the lovely view," I finish his sentence, walking to the window. "Yes. I know you love the view, so I figure our baby will love it too," he softly says, standing behind me. He puts his hands on my shoulders. I take his hands and put them on my belly. He rests his head against mine. "Friday we'll hear the heartbeat of our little baby for the first time," I quietly say. "Really?" he says with a hoarse voice. I turn my head a little and see tears in his eyes. Tears of joy |
