The Story of My Kids

My first re-adoptions, Chloe & Sammie Jo. After bidding on a few eBay auctions I decided I just couldn't wait to have some "new" kids in hand. With my mom in tow we hit a large thrift store in my area. Seized with a CPK frenzy, I ran to the toy section with yarn hair radar on. I immediately found Chloe, the red-head I had always wanted as a child. Meanwhile my mother, searching for the cutie baldies, stumbled across Sammie Jo. In my initial new collector stupor I almost passed on Sammie Jo, not remembering seeing any like him from my childhood. Mom insisted I get him, and had his name all picked out before we even left the store. Later I realized he had his original clothes and diaper. Thanks mom!

The brown hair sillies, Ralph & Starletta. Ralph came to me from a great eBay auction. I was warned he was a handful, and she wasn't kidding! He just loves to clown around, especially in front of the camera. Starletta was a great find at Goodwill. She had her original dress and shoes, and was my first poodle girl! (I also really wanted a brown-haired girl. What luck!) Now she is Ralph's partner in crime.

Fred & Wynton are transplants from the state of Oklahoma. Back in the early days of my collecting (about a month ago :^P) I stumbled upon a note on a collector's message board about numerous kids for sale, "$7." I quickly replied and a short time later received these loveable boys.

The day before Valentines' Day found our hero, the boyfriend, without a gift for yours truly. Of course, without hesitation I suggested a CPK solution. We went on a thrift store run and found my 3 V-day sweethearts -- Lucy, Schroeder & Phoebe -- buried under a mass of dolls at Goodwill. I wasn't especially keen on Schroeder at the time, being a Coleco girl at heart, but the girls refused to leave without their new baby brother. After a quick cleaning, leg surgery on Lucy, a new pacifier for Phoebe, and some re-dressing they are better than any heart-shaped box of candy!

Red heads from afar, Amanda & Anne. I saw Anne at Mel's Doll House, and just had to have her. I mean, who could resist those big ponytails!?! She's even sweeter in person, and I had some little blue shoes to match her outfit. Thanks Mel! Anne was from an eBay auction, all the way from a seller in Canada. In honor of her Canadian heritage I named her after the character in the book Anne of Green Gables.

My two minty boys, Mario and Fabrizio. Mario came from a nice seller on eBay. He had his birth certificate and a little red cap just like my 1st kid, Ernie, used to wear. Fabrizio is my very 1st Jesmar, a bambino Italiano! He also came from eBay, at a reasonable price considering the going rate!

My three lemon loop sweeties, that just arrived recently -- Anna Monica, Adele Mereille and Eva Odette. Anna is named after the first CPK my cousin got. I was jealous because she got the girl, while I got Ernie. Now I have the best of both worlds!

Gayla Cathy, Gilbert Blythe and Lara May. Gayla is a replica of the second CPK I had as a child. I decided to save up money (i.e. digging in the couch cushions) to buy myself a red-headed girl. After a few weeks my aunt felt sorry for me and bought me Gayla. She didn't know about my desire for a red-head, and who was I to look a gift cabbie in the mouth?

Gilbert and Lara came to me from Sonia in the far reaches of Canada. Gilbert is fresh from a bath but still clothes-less as of yet, so Lara decided to shield him from prying eyes.

My second Jesmar, Ansel Owen, and his minty brother Wolfgang Matthias. You can't see Ansel's freckles in the picture but he's got 'em! Wolfie came to me in a German box, but his tag is Coleco from the OK factory. He still wanted a German name, so I was happy to oblige.

Odessa Oona, Greta Clara and big brother Mitchell Steven. Odessa was won on auction from a local collector. She was supposed to go live with my mom but woops! I forgot! :^) Mitchell is a sweet little guy that I adopted from Geekyspice. A twins tag fell out of his diaper while he was getting a bath. Anyone seen his twin? And last but not least there's Greta, who I just received. She is in such great condition, I was looking around for the box she fell out of!

This little tyke is Deniz Turkiye. She is a woman of the world -- accompanying me on my trip to Istanbul, Turkey. Because of this I felt she should have a name befiting of her Turkish cultural baptism."Deniz" means ocean in Turkish, and "Turkiye" is (you guessed it) Turkey. She is accompanied in the picture by another Turkish relic, the Papa Smurf Happy Meal toy.

These two little girls just recently stole my heart! The red-head is Molly Frieda, and seated on her lap is little toddler Evie Annette. Molly was my prize from a trip to a local antique store. Evie is my 1st toddler kid, and is so happy to have a new pacifier! She also loves all her new brothers and sisters, especially Molly.

Gemma Noreen and Scarlett Andreen both came from a very nice Yahoo auction seller. Gemma is wearing the cute green dress she came in when I got her. Scarlett didn't come with anything, poor thing, but she told me she always wanted to play Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz." Well, wouldn't you know it, I had just such a dress! These girls are so inseparable I decided they must be twins, and now they wear pretty peach twins dresses.

Poppy Rae, Cecilia Anne, and Caddy the Koosa Cat were all adopted from cpk collectors on the web. Poppy Rae is from New Leaf Garden Sprouts. She came all the way from the east coast to have fun in the sun! After all, poppies are the California state flower. Cecilia and Caddy both arrived from Second Chance Orphanage. I think they were worth a second chance, don't you?
