BASIC ART
Students entering this class are choosing to learn or expand their visual art skills.  They begin by learning learning to see shapes and shadows not objects.  They are teaching the right side of their brain to stand up for its rights by increasing their creativity.

After practicing shading pictures for the first two weeks of school, they are now creating their own using a subject such as a building or animal as the focal point and completing the composition from their own imagination.  They will be experiencing different media such as watercolor, tempera paint, pastels and mixed media.  The due dates on these projects will vary depending on the complexity of the assingment.

These students will also be required to keep their projects in a portfolio.  If they are finished with an assignment before others they are encouraged to draw another picture using the subject matter of their choice as long as it is school appropriate.
