During my 2 month vacation, I had the chance to re-asses myself as a person and for one, as a mother. It was a sort of coming-of-age wherein a realization of the simple joys in life is just around the corner. Just seeing your baby’s innocent smile, caressing her velvetly smooth skin, is enough to melt all your worries away. For a parent, a simple moment such as this, is magical – something that other people could not quite comprehend. My baby Yza, is a miracle. She survived a perilous cord coil during delivery and yet came out normally. Her birth date? 9-9-00. Lucky nine. We were expecting her by 9pm, but since she was experiencing distress, she came out by 11pm. She really is a bundle of joy, having such delicate features – her jet black hair which matches her chinky little eyes, her cute red lips, milky white skin… On the other hand, my one year old Zed, is never without new tricks in her sleeves. She never fails to amaze us with her cute antics. She sings, well, hums acutally (having fun with videoke, she grabs the mike and sings). She dances..(watching TV, imitating the ads, dancing.. specially selecta), she smiles and laughs a lot (and when she smiles, that big big contagious smile of hers, it really lights up her face and everyone else in sight. She brings happiness and laughter into our home). She is a funny little girl – often hugging and kissing her younger sister, Yza. Their older sister, Jury, is the intellectual one. She is a 5 yr old amidst a classroom of 7 yr olds, being accelerated on her first yr of schooling. This June, she will be in grade one. What amazes me is that even though she has not attended nursery school, she always came our in flying colors, we were such proud parents last march, going up the stage for 2 gold medals in quiz bee and having the third place as honor student in their class. This year, she again is competing for the top 3 slots in their class. She was top 2 this grading period. The eldest, Joie, just turned 13 this november. She also will be graduating from grade school this year. She is the caring one, though naughty at times. I never ceased to be amazed with these little angels. Oftentimes we forget that our children are not our own. They are on loan for us to develop and make the most out of them. This fact often elude a parent. Most of the time, it slips away so much so that a misguided sense of ownership is imminent in some of us, parents. Each of us has obligations and responsibilities in life. we work to earn money to be able to meet our daily needs, but we, often times forget that there are much more important things that needs attention, care, time, love. Always remember that, no matter how our job occupies so much of our time, let's try our best to spend more time with the people we love..... I know that there will come a time for me to give them up. To trust in what we have taught them, to believe that we have equipt them with the tools to go on with their own lives. Being a parent is the most toughest and most fulfilling jobs in the world, and yet, Parenthood is a joy waiting to be discovered. Speech No.6: Work With Words The objectives of this speech are:
