May
31: Regular
Toastmaster Meeting, Room 503 (2002-18)
President Gladdy Patawaran (GP) called
the meeting in order and introduced Toastmaster of the
Day (TMD), Secretary Rico Abibas (RA). RA walked through
the agenda, cracked some jokes like this:
| |
I remembered a story about this
lady who saw a man walking to and fro. He was
holding a sheet of paper, talking to himself and
continues to walk here and there. Curiosity
striked into the girl, she decided to approach
the man and asked, "Hey, do you have a
speech tonight?"
"Oh yeah, in just five minutes, I'll be on
stage and will make a speech!" answered the
man.
"You were quite nervous and not
prepared," commented the lady.
The man looked into the girl's eyes and said,
"Oh, this is my 10th speech and I will be
getting my competent norm
I'm not nervous
and I'm very much prepared."
"So you're such a great speaker?" asked
again the lady.
"Yes, I am
a great toastmasters
speaker!" the man shouted.
"No wonder... because you're inside the
ladies restroom." |
Prepared Speaker No.1 Art Enciso (AE) tried to add
impact to his speech no.8. AE inspired by a quote from
former US President Henry Ford who once said that the
highest use of capital is not to make more money, but to
make money do move for the betterment of life. His speech
titled, "Paper
of Life" talked about money on how your
money can be use for its good purposes.
VP PRO Marissa Monsanto (MM) evaluated AE's speech.
RA again told some jokes:
| |
Money per se is
not the root of all evils but the LOVE of money
and the LACK of it (with due apology from I
Timothy 6:10)
oOo
A sacristan found a 100-peso bill during the mass
celebration. He went to the microphone and
announced to the crowd:
"Who's the owner of this 100-peso?" at
the same time raising up the money.
The crown answered in oneness, "Amen!"
"Ang dami namang may-ari!"
|
Prepared Speaker No.2 Rosette Hizon (RH) pursuaded
with power to her speech no.9. RH speech entitled, "A Cup
of Coffee Before Bedtime" talked about the
negative and positive aspects of drinking coffee.
CTM Tony Soria (TS) evaluated RH's speech.
RA again and again:
| |
I wonder if
employees of Lipton Tea company can take coffee
breaks? (korni raw sabi ni MM)
oOo
Do you know that drinking coffee can make you
blind? (ah... alam na alam ni TS ang sagot)
