February 2008 Discussion:
- Inductions:
- Rehearsal on the 26th in the auditorium from 2:30 - 4PM
- Actual ceremony on the 27th in the auditorium at 9:15; reception will be in the library
- Meet at the library on the 27th at 7:30, after you check in with your 1st block teacher. We'll split the group up into people who will be preparing for the ceremony, and those who will be pulling accepted students out of their 2A class
- Wear nice clothing to inductions. It doesn't have to be super formal, but please don't wear jeans
- Sign up for food to bring to the reception if you haven't already
- Possible changes for next year (still needs to be affirmed and voted on):
- Lower GPA requirement from 3.5 to 3.3?
- Require members to submit pieces to Reflections contest and to the Literary Magazine? Or offer incentives (i.e. hours) to those who submit? Would we also read those submissions and nominate a piece to national's "The Muse"?
- May Day: Approval has been received, and its still scheduled for May 10
- The Muse: Submissions must be turned in before March 25 in order for it to be considered for the Spring 2008 issue
- Scholarships: Opportunities are available on the official NEHS website here. As for our scholarships, they are still in the process of development but so far, it has been decided that 2 will be awarded, with 1 being based on need.
January 2008 Discussion:
- Inductions: Scheduled for end of February, we'll need to plan out what will be needed for the reception as far as food, drinks, and utensils go. The colour scheme will be blue and gold, conforming to the actual NEHS colours. Flowers will be needed, and lavaliers (the necklaces) will need to be made.
- The Muse: As the NEHS newsletter, it provides an outlet for various writing pieces produced by NEHS members. Members are encouraged to produce pieces from various writing genres. Interested members should submit a piece to Ms. Wales. Your piece could possibly be published.
- May Day: We've received approval to use school facilities for May Day, which is scheduled for May 10. We'll need to obtain vendors and organise the days' events (ie games).
- Alanton Tutoring:Members are needed to cover tutoring for Ms. Lankford's 5th grade class at Alanton Elementary. If you are consistently available at least every other Wednesday from 2-3 PM, then please sign up to be a tutor.
