The 2004 Metro Run & Walk Capon Ridge Running Camp is designed to give cross country athletes (ages13-18) an opportunity to run in a beautiful setting while meeting other cross country runners, learn from an experienced staff comprised of college athletes and excellent speakers (including Juli Henner, Georgetown middle distance coach and 1996 Olympian and Alex Gibby, head men� s cross country coach at W&M), and to have loads of fun with experiences which will be remembered forever.

Facilities: 
Concord Retreat is nestled in the Capon Valley region of West Virginia.  There are miles of off road trails and grass fields connecting from the camp.  The camp has 4 separate air- conditioned dorms (two boys and two girls), a large dining hall, a large game room, outdoor amphitheater, assembly room, ropes course, paintball course, obstacle course, and an outdoor swimming pool.     

Housing:
Housing is in four air-conditioned dorms (2 boys and 2 girls) on the 175 acre campus.  Campers are housed 4 per room with approximately 30 campers per dorm

Costs:
$385.00 ($350 if full amount is received by May 31, 2004)
Cost includes lodging, 3 meals per day, camp t-shirt, bag from Nike and water bottle

Application:
Entries must be sent with a $50.00 non-refundable deposit postmarked by April 19, 2004 or a $100 non-refundable deposit after that date.  Please register as early as the camp will reach capacity.

Camp Staff

Scott Raczko
The 2001 Nike Youth Coach of the Year, Coach Raczko is in his 12th year of high school coaching and is currently  working with the girls middle and distance runners at Oakton High School.  In addition, he is the coach of a group of post-collegiate runners and professional Nike athlete Alan Webb.
Coach Raczko was the high school coach of Webb, the national high school record holder in the indoor and outdoor mile, and Richard Smith, a three-time national 800 meter champion.  His South Lakes teams had 13 National Champions, including two relay National Championships.  The team set eight National records, including the distance medley record, three Penn Relays Records, and won two Championship of America Relays at Penn Relays.

Mike Kiernan
Coach Kiernan is currently the Head Track and Field Coach at Oakton High School. In his 16th year coaching high school track and field, Coach Kiernan built one of the top private school track and field programs in Virginia during a 12 year career at O�Connell High School in Arlington Virginia.  This included 11 Virginia State Catholic Championship Track Titles, and three Virginia State Catholic cross country titles. 

Melanie Kiernan
Coach Kiernan has spent five years as the head cross country coach at Paul VI High School in Fairfax, VA.  During that time her teams won two Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Titles, Five Virginia State Catholic Cross Country titles, and one Virginia Independent School State Championship.

Alan Webb
Alan runs professionally for Nike while attending college.  The national high school mile record holder (3:53.43) he is a three-time Virginia State Cross Country Champion, NCAA cross country All-American, the US Fall Cross Country 10K Champion and a World XC Championships qualifier in the 12K.
