The brilliant hues of dawn dipped the marshmallow clouds in paint that morning as Barnacle, captain of the S.S. Moondreamer and chief of Pony Immigration, climbed aboard his golden ship and prepared it for a long voyage.

Baby Moondreamer, infinitely proud of her nautical namesake, never missed a launching.  And Tex, knowing that this was the day on which his "other Magic Star" was to arrive, eagerly perched by the docks as he planned to do until she was safely on the shores of Ponyland.  The baby unicorn and the big, lumbering Clydesdale waved good-bye to Barnacle as the S.S. Moondreamer began to make it way across the Glass Sea.

Rattles and Tattles, still in bedclothes, came toddling as fast as they could toward the docks, carrying an excessive assortment of dolls, duck pull toys, bottles, and their partially-eaten English muffins from breakfast.  Baby Moondreamer sniffed haughtily at the motley tangle of material possessions and newborn ponies.  "Too late.  You missed it." she snipped, smirking a childish smirk at the resulting wailing.

Goldilocks appeared on the scene to retrieve the upset twins, followed by baby ponies of every size, shape, and color of the rainbow.  Her normally perfect curls were more than slightly disheveled.  Tex smiled at what looked to him like a stressed-out sheepherder of a large flock of multicolored, unusually unruly sheep.  Poor Goldilocks; she attempted to call to Rattles and Tattles, but before she even got the words out, she noticed Baby Lofty trying to eat a strange-looking flower and was deterred.

Tex chuckled and prepared for the inevitable, a relentless barrage of baby pony questions.
"What'cha doin?" asked Baby Ember.
"Waiting for someone." replied Tex, quite capable of quickly delivering a baby-answer.
"Who?" quizzed Baby Heart Throb. "Your one twue love?"  That came from her mother, no doubt, chuckled Tex to himself.  He winked and nodded in answer.

"What does she look like, Tex?" It was Baby Blossom's turn. "Like our Magic Star?"
"I don't know what she looks like," Tex answered truthfully. "I've never seen her."
"Never?" gasped Baby Rainribbon. "How do you know she's pretty enough to love?"
Tex laughed.  "Baby Rainribbon, I'll still love Magic Star, even if she isn't pretty!"

"Well said!" came an adult voice from behind.  It was Art Time, smiling warmly and carrying a tray loaded with an abundant breakfast for Tex.  "You mean to say, you two didn't even swap up pictures?"

Tex shrugged. "Why? Magic Star and I both agreed that it didn't matter what the other one looked like.  Besides, I'll see her this afternoon."

Art Time smiled and hoped that the "other Magic Star" was worthy of a pony like Tex.
