A group of community activist and senior officers of the State Government has successfully set up and register the "Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor" by Registration Number ARS/ Sel/50/66 on August 16,1966.
The Committee had been active to achieve its objectives when the approval of this organization. The State Goverment which is Y.Bhg services over the late Dato 'Haji Harun Idris and his wife Datin Y.Bhg Salama Suleiman has granted a plot of land in Mukim Hulu Kelang. It is covering an area of 4.8 acres in the approval document number PHT.G.2 / 139 / 75. Y.Bhg late Dato 'Haji Harun Idris was appointed as Chairman of "Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor". This is because to make a determine this project can be implemented successfully.
Severel programs were carried out as dinner because the result of these effort. Through these dinner,the society was able to devote to building homes at a cost of RM158,107.81. His Majesty Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al Haj son of the late Sultan of Selangor Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah has consented to become patron RBHK. In 1976, is the first stage making orphans.It was consisting in total of 26 people, 13 men and 13 women between the ages of 6 to 12 years old. RBHK was inaugurated by the Sultan of Selangor on March 5, 1977. In 2013, Rumah Bakti Dato Harun was inhabited by a total of 83 orphans aged which is from 7 years to 17 years.
On March 2, 1982 two hostel blocks 2 a new level has been completed. Both the dormitory blocks worth RM600,000.00 and contributed by the State Government and public donations.On 1984, a mosque was built however in 2009 a new mosque was built to replaced the old mosque. The new mosque has been donated by YBhg Datin Salmah Sulaiman, wife of the late Dato 'Haji Harun Idris.On 1989, Rumah Bakti Dato Harun has a got a new library and it become a resource center in 1997. Since Rumah Bakti Dato Harun has got a new mosque, the old mosque built in 1984 was renovated into a new Resource Center. The center is divided into two parts, namely, a library and a computer .
The name Rumah Bakti Hulu Kelang (RBHK) to Rumah Bakti Datuk Harun(RBDH) was changed because to tribute YBhg Dato 'Haji Harun Idris which is the member "Pertubuhan Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Selangor". The change of name orphan with along the change symbol change Rumah Bakti also amended and approved amendments by the Registrar of Societies on 29 July 2011.
