Retro Backgrounds for Personal Usage
Not
so long ago I began creating very simple retro backgrounds for personal
web-sites. Being of a slightly stingy nature, I create these with
the use of a very simple program "Presto Image Folio".
You are welcome to use any of my back-grounds on your personal, not-for-profit web-sites. Please e-mail me your web-site URL so that I can see how you have used the images. For those very amateur web-designers such as myself, you can make solid backgrounds for tables (such as this one) to suit the tiled page image of choice. Sometimes you may be able to find a suitable html colour code. Otherwise you can use any of the standard, simple graphics programs that often come free with computer/software packages. Just select the colour you wish to use as the block colour and make a small square of only a small number of pixels. This can then be tiled in the table background to cover the entire table, and will not take overly long to load. For instance this table has background="brown.jpg" scripted to match the wall-paper I have used for this page. You can easily change the colours of my images by using a standard, simple graphics program to adjust the hue/saturation or brightness/contrast, or by selecting the colour variations option. You may also wish to play around with the sizing of the image to achieve the desired effect. I prefer not to create a textured effect as it can distract from text on a page but you may wish to experiment around with the texture as well. If you achieve something exciting please send it on to me and I will put it on this page, with co-credit to you. Below are the images used on this web-site. I have many other backgrounds at my poetry/artwork/backgrounds web-site titled " Colourful Cuisine ". Some other simple designs which I think work really well are those by Energy Flow . Check them out; I'm sure you'll find something you like there, especially if you are into retro. Enjoy if you dare be daggy*. xxooxx Farrah *Dag (Aus): an unfashionable & behind-the-times person... i.e. yours truly : ).
