Ship / Simm Applications

Fleet Structure and Support

Far Point Fleet provides a fleet structure based on the premise that each simm has an equal voice in fleet matters.   Member simms are expected to become familiar with and adhere to all Fleet regulations and policies.

Member simms gain the support of a fleet structure:  established policies and procedures to provide an enjoyable simming atmosphere, a place for players to interact with players from other ships, positive reinforcement to players through Fleet Posting Awards, fleet newsletter, and the potential for joint-missions with other ships in the fleet.   Individual members gain access to fleet-wide discussion list for idea exchange.  Commanding officers gain access to the Fleet administration discussion list for sharing of ideas, concerns, and recommendations for fleet direction.

Player Recruitment

The Fleet is not responsible for providing a ship with players. While adding a ship/simm to the Fleet means that we share an interest in that ship's continued future, we do not yet have a broad enough player base to adequately staff new ships that are mostly in need of players. Each member simm is responsible for its own recruiting.

We do actively recruit new players on a fleet level.  When those recruits are available we do refer them to existing ships.  Another  benefit of Fleet membership is the increased publicity of having ads on TOP lists for recruitment purposes.  The Fleet's growing reputation should help the simm with its own recruitment efforts.

Applying for Membership

Admission to the fleet requires a simple majority vote of the existing voting membership (see Voting).  Because Far Point Fleet values a positive simming environment and requires integrity both from the command crew and the general membership, Simm applicants will be asked to provide information concerning the simm history, webpage location, and access to simm posting archives. A link to the form is provided below.

Probationary Status of New Simms

Upon receipt of an application for membership, a vote will be taken to allow probationary membership or a "shake-down" status for the new simm / ship.

During the "shake-down" status, the simm's command officers may participate fully in all aspects of simm administration except voting.  The simm's players should all read the Fleet "orientation" curriculum.

"Shake-down" status may last up to four months, during which time the the simm's activity will be observed.  At the end of the "shake-down" period, another vote will be taken to either:
