Our bikes have the fuel capacity to ride over 200 km's but we would fuel up after
about 170. An average fill cost me about $7 while Ray's was about $5.
Fuel prices changed in different locations, the highest prices were in central
Saskatchewan and lowering back down by the time we reached Edmonton.
Ray's bike, on the right, is a 2001 Honda Shadow Sabre with an 1100cc V-Twin engine. I run a 1982 Yamaha Maxim XJ with an 1100cc inline four. Ray's bike has a bit of a loud factory exhaust so when I'm running beside him or behind him, I'll wear earplugs. Plus, my HJC Airteck 2 helmet generates quite a bit of noise due to wind turbulance and I don't care for that either. But whatever. I like stopping, even if it's for the 5 minutes it is for a fill-up, and taking in a bit of the town I'm in. I think it forces me to experience the countryside I'm travelling through, to absorb a little bit of it's people, look and feel. I guess I like travelling and going to new places. |
