STEP-BACK HUTCH
By the 19th Century, many country homes had cabinets in which to display their China.  There were many different styles of cabinets, but one of the most popular was the "Step-Back Hutch".  It's actually a cabinet top on a cupboard base.  The top isn't as deep as the base, so the cabinet seems to "step-back" from the wider cupboard.
