Hey there! I started doing this page in case one day I contract amnesia and forget how to get odd sounds out of my effects pedals and also if you like the sounds that you hear, I'll post how to get them and maybe throw in some downloads for you to listen to!
Basic Sounds
Firstly lets start with the basics. I use a humbucker equiped guitar all the time as it doesn't make squeky noises when the gain is very high and has no 'hum' when the guitar is not being played! The main guitar I use is a Gibson SG. I play this through a Hughes & Kettner Warp 7 stack. The distortion you hear is the typical 'modern metal' sound, which is done with the 'Warp' channel on my Warp 7 stack with Gain about 7, Middle 'scooped' at 6 or 7, with Bass, Treble and Presence all at 10 with the Bridge picup selected on the SG. Its the sound you've heard on every Pantera and Metallica album! For my clean tone I just use the clean channel on my Warp 7 with all controls (Middle, Treble and Bass) at about 5 as I control most of the clean EQ and effects through my Boss GT-3 and Boss Seven Band EQ pedals.
