What is American Soccer Online?
American Soccer Online (ASO) is a non-profit web site
created to help promote the development of soccer as a professional sport in the United States.
Soccer is just starting to once again establish itself as a professional sport in America.
The average American does not know much about soccer. ASO wants to help change that.
ASO wants to increase people's awareness of the various soccer leagues and organizations that exist in America.
ASO wants to help new-comers understand how the various minor and major leagus
(such as the United Soccer Leagues, Major League Soccer (MLS), and Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA))
work together with the governing bodies of soccer (such as the United States Soccer Federation, the Football Confederation and FIFA)
to promote and better the sport of soccer.
ASO also wants to
provide soccer fans with information on the various Cup competitions that are held in the
North American region, including when the competitions will take place, what teams will participate,
and where soccer fans can either watch the Cup competition or obtain news about a resulting match.
What can American Soccer Online do for you?
With the many Cup competitions, assorted leagues, and
various soccer organizations that exist in the world, soccer can be a confusing sport to follow, especially
for new-comers. ASO wants to organize all this information into one site. It wants to be your
"one-click" source for understanding soccer events, leagues, and organizations. ASO can provide you
with all the information you need to become a well informed soccer fan in the United States. ASO
will provide a foundation of understanding of the various soccer organizations, leagues, and events
that exist, and then provide links to sites that you can visit to obtain more in-depth information.
Use ASO's home page as a switchboard
to obtain all the latest news evolving around American soccer. You can then use the "Standings and TV schedule"
section to find out how your favorite teams are doing and when you can watch them on TV. The
"Cups of the Americas" page can inform you of what competitions are comming up and what countries
or club teams will be taking part in them.
What you can do for American Soccer Online.
American Soccer Online is a non-profit
website created and maintained by one person, me. I will do my best to provide soccer fans with an informative site and any help is
always welcomed.
First you can help ASO just by simply
using the website. It's encouraging for me to see ASO get many hits a day; to see that fans are
finding ASO to be very useful source for soccer news and information. This encouragement helps me
to provide you with a better service.
Secondly, you can help ASO, and
most importantly the sport of soccer, by submitting columns concerning
Major League Soccer, the US National Team, MLS games you attended
or watched on TV, or anything relating to soccer in North America. They can even be opinions
that you'd like to share with the rest of the soccer comunity. They don't have to be long,
all I ask is that they are well written. Please send your columns to
[email protected]. If you
would like your email address included in the posting of the article, so people can write back to
you, just let me know.
Also, if you have any ideas as to how I can
better this site, or if you notice any errors in the information I provide, please let me know. Thank you for all your support!
