Chapter Seventeen

The light got brighter even brighter, filling the entire room with its blinding beauty.

One minute left. The sun was just behind the hills now, but the light was still released from it, ready to retire to the other side of the world. The door slammed open and Quistis, Dincht, and Sally came just in time to see a subtly smiling sleepy-eyed girl with coffee brown eyes being held with her one of her arms wrapped around this Dincht look alike, and this Dincht look alike holding onto her waist with his free arm, the side of his cheek pressed against her forehead tenderly. And suddenly, a blinding light magically carried the happy couple away into another dimension.

"What the hell?" Dincht asked as he looked around the ordinary dorm room that had just been filled with a strangely bright yellow glow. It all looked normal. The sheets of the plain white bed were neatly folded together in an orderly fashion at the very edge of its end, the pillow showed no sign of anyone ever daring to trudge their heads upon its soft fluffy exterior, the desk was in place, the ebony computer it held upon its surface was logged off and had been taken care of, and even the chair was in place. It was all so perfect it seemed eerie.

When Lina and Zell flashed back into their own world in the same bright yellow glow, they were kissing. Lina had never felt so much joy before. She let go of that silly ribbon now that she was back and continued to kiss Zell fully, tightening her grip around his neck lovingly: pure bliss. Zell took the necklace out of the safety of his pocket and placed it back around Lina's neck; he didn't stop smiling.

Selphie and Irvine smiled at each other as well as if this had all been done by their hands; as if they were the ones that had brought them back together, but they didn't know that they had only contributed to it, and the person who had actually brought them together was definitely one of the most unlikely. Seifer just stood at the side and smirked. Of course they knew what had happened. (Mr. Know-it-all :-D)

"Thanks Zell," Lina whispered into his ear as he held her closely into him.

Thanks, Seifer, Zell thought. It was true: the night of the dance Seifer had pulled Zell outside to talk to him. It had seemed so strange how Seifer knew what Zell was thinking, but hey, you never know. Seifer might have even been able to read his mind or something bizarre like that.

You should get back together, Seifer told him. Zell looked off the side of the balcony.

"What if she doesn't want to?" He asked out loud even though he was mainly asking himself.

"She does...trust me."

Zell down looked at Lina and kissed her forehead.
