Chapter Four

BOOM. They heard it come from outside and they rushed out at top speed, almost tripping over a small pile of grocery bags next to the doorway. Zeku lagged behind Rikku, Paine, and Yuna because she was furthest away from the door. Outside, soldier laid on the ground, not moving, not breathing...dead. Zeku shuddered; it was a bloody sight. Ambushed.

Yuna was first to immediately feel bad... not just bad...horrible. She broke down suddenly and fell to the ground, her polished black boots getting dirtied by the sticky particles of dirty of the dry, barren ground. She pounded the ground with her fist and almost began to throw a fit. Rikku, Paine, and Zeku, of course, had never seen her act like this, and were a little bit hesitant on what to do about it.

"I couldn't protect them!" Yuna screamed at herself over and over again. Rikku and Paine deicded to try to comfort her, and Zeku leaned over as well to help the best she could, but she didn't know what to say... part of her really could not remember who she was, and the other part of her was telling her to assist her friends, telling her to ask if she was alright, just for the sake of morality and politeness.

"It's alright, Yunie..." Rikku said mumbling softly and soothingly, trying to mitigate her pain. Here was the great Lady Yuna, Slayer of Sin, Ultimate Summoner, kneeling on the ground, almost in tears. She was Spira's idol for defeating Sin and never breaking down during her pilgrimage to the final summon, and yet here she was devastated for not being able to help the citizens of her world. "Just send them." Yuna nodded weakly and pulled out a small sphere from one of the pouches on her belt. It was a dress sphere.

Yuna chanted something quietly and suddenly her outfit changed. A mist surrounded her as she dried her eyes and dropped her guns, magically letting them disappear into thin air, only to appear later. She was in her summoning clothes as she had been during her journey with Tidus--a very difficult thing for her to recollect--but nonetheless she took out her ceremonial staff and began the small ceremony of the Sending. Following the movement of her staff, small white spheres glimmered and flew out of the soldier's bodies. These pyreflies now represented their lives in very simple yet complex forms of light and memories. They flew out of their bodies and few away so that their souls would not walk among the living and haunt them as fiends.

Zeku was standing at the side, and realized suddenly that for some reason, her outline was growing thinner and her hands were starting to fade. It all seemed so familiar to her, but she couldn't quite recall what she was feeling. Zeku looked around confused and frightened. She didn't know whether or not she should tell Rikku or Paine, but for some reason, the concreteness of her body kept flickering. Suddenly, a light was emitted from deep inside her body. She felt as though a thousand needles were pricking her skin. There was no blood, no visible scars, no spheres flying out of her body; she was simply vanishing into the mists of the remaining morning air.

Zeku screamed in fear and just as Paine and Rikku turned to see what was wrong, she disappeared.
