"How'd you get out of the Farplane?" Lina asked her at once as soon as she was sure they were alone. The Farplane was a place where they sent the souls of dead people and Lina had seen her there. It was a strange and musical abyss where their souls and the memories of them would be reflected onto the pyreflies and they would appear in their fading soul forms, letting their loved ones recollect them. (Lina's not dead, but she doesn't exactly exist... remember?)
"Long story," Kira muttered curtly, escaping having to explain as if Lina were attempting to elicit the information from her, but she suddenly spotted Squall. She had once said something about stabbing him to Lina and Lina seemed kind of suspicious about them. "Squall, I..."
"You don't need to say anything, Kira," Squall cut her off and spoke calmly. He turned around after one last glance at her and walked away with Rinoa who seemed flustered that Squall could talk to this Kira girl. "Later." Kira turned her back to him, almost crying from the distress he was causing her. Lina looked concerned for her but Kira tried to smile it away.
"Distraught past," Kira muttered under her breath and sighed deeply. Lina nodded and patted her on the back, chuckling slightly with her trademark half moon smile. She moved the bit of hair that was covering her face and blocking her vision out of the way and sighed wearily. The two of them were sighing partners.
"Same," Lina smirked and put her hands on her hips. "Come to my class with me." Lina invited her to return to the classroom, but Kira just looked at her curiously with her brilliant green eyes. She seemed to be examining every inch of her from head to toe curiously and with great concentration. Lina seemed a little bit shaken by this, but she tried to ignore it while twitching slightly as Kira went around to her backside. "Umm...."
"You know," Kira muttered, examining her face. "You look really familiar, but I can't quite make out who you are..." Lina seemed relieved at this slightly. For a moment there, she thought Kira was checking her out or something, but she chuckled at the thought and it went away quickly as Kira explained what she was looking at. Well...It wasn't a good thing that Kira didn't remember who she was, but then again, she didn't blame her since back then she had a whole different style along with a different name.
"It's me, Zeku," Lina said her other name, the one she had carried while she was in another location, far away from here. Back then she had had partial amnesia and back then, she thought that Zeku was her real name, but that was also when she had met Kira. "But everyone here calls me Lina because uh...that's my actual name."
"Ohhh..." Kira remembered her; she could recognize her voice, her eyes, her facial features, her body figure...Lina had been the only person she had met in a very long time when she was in the Farplane. Things back then for her were extremely terrible and Lina had been the only person who appeared that she could talk to. They walked back into class with Seifer too. Kira took a seat in the back of the class as Seifer put his gunblade away and muttered of what a waste of time that was.
Lina continued with the class until the bell rang and a stampede of hungry students went out to raid the cafeteria.
