Chapter Four

During lunch, Lina introduced Kira to her friends. "Selphie and Irvine are together," Lina said pointing to a bouncy brunette with a happy-go-lucky look on her face and a ladies man with brown hair, wearing a cowboy hat. Selphie waved happily and Irvine tipped his hat with a small smirk on his face. Irvine usually flirted with all girls, whether or not he was attracted to them, it was just his friendly and perverted nature. The only person he'd ever really be attracted to was Selphie and she knew that and loved that about him even thought sometimes he was like a dog with her being the master.

"Karen and Scott," Lina said pointing to Karen and her boyfriend: a boy with dirty blond hair and brown eyes. Karen smiled widely, showing all of her teeth in satisfaction that Lina had put her name with Scott who was now smiling feebly. Scott was an extremely shy little boy who was truly fascinated by Karen's outrageous and outgoing behavior. The two of them had been a strong couple ever since they were introduced to each other about a year ago and they couldn't deny that they were in love.

"Dan and Chichiri," Lina pointed to a boy with brown hair and crystal blue eyes and an older man with light blue hair sticking up in one direction. Of course they weren't together, but she just put their names together. Dan had a very cheerful and ecstatic behavior where as Chichiri, wise on the inside, acted silly and playful on the outside.

"And uh...this is Zell," Lina concluded. Kira looked at him.

"Are you guys together?" Kira asked her. Lina shook her head and looked at the ground. She didn't feel like explaining to Kira the long and tangled history she had with Zell Dincht.

"Both single," Zell said simply. Lina looked up and stared at him. Zell used to be her boyfriend, but she broke up with him because she didn't want him to get hurt; it was for his own good. (Being a sorceress attracts a lot of trouble.) She truly did love him though. But, Zell had gotten another girlfriend; that's why Lina was looking at him like he was a maniac. Lina pulled him aside and spoke to him.

"Uh...What about Carri?" Lina asked him. Zell just smirked at the strange look on her face. His piercing gaze could always make Lina feel like she could sprout wings and fly into the fluffy clouds, resting on their soft embrace and never returning. Lina stared at him curiously, but Zell just chuckled lightly and a little mockingly as well.

"Oh, you mean the girl making out with Hainc over there!?" Zell said, dabbing his head towards the side shortly to point out what he was referring to without actually having to point. Lina looked over her shoulder and saw a blonde beauty kissing a fiery red haired dorky looking boy with thick circular glasses pushed up the highest point on his nose.

"Oh, sorry, Zell," Lina said quietly and she sunk down a little bit. If he would would respond "It's okay..." Lina would feel like a fool...thinking Zell might still have feelings for her...after all that she had put him through.

"Don't be; we were only together because she fell into the pond when she was high. I saved her and she started following me everywhere and calling me her boyfriend," Zell explained. Lina looked up, her coffee brown eyes were clouded with confusion. She had thought differently of the two of them. How could anyone refuse that physically fit girl over there that happened to be making out with a much less attractive guy than Zell Dincht? Lina should have known that Zell wasn't that shallow...even though he might seem like it. "Hella annoying if you ask me."

"You didn't like her?" Lina asked. "At all?" Zell leaned over extremely close to her shocked face and put his hand under her chin playfully. He stared straight into her eyes with a small smirk on his face.

"Of course not," he whispered softly, smiling. He chuckled and left after giving Lina a couple of warm pats on the shoulder, brushing by her arm purposing in hopes she would get the idea as he left the Cafeteria. Lina found herself blushing when she looked over and saw Selphie and Irvine giving her thumbs up signals. They knew what she just couldn't get: That Zell Dincht had always loved her and always would. Lina shook her head and laughed, though it was true, Zell still made her heart race.

After lunch she went back to her dorm, happy.
