Lina glanced in Seifer's direction. He looked up at her. She smiled sweetly and pretended to talk to Kira; she took a step near the sphere. Seifer gave her a suspicious look and raised an eyebrow. The pattern of the splashing noises the water made when it washed up onto the beach of the ocean and the constant squishy, sinking noises their shoes made in the soft, newly wetted sand made everything seem normal, nothing could be out of place.
Seifer stopped speaking to Dan and saw the sphere too. Dan and Kira seemed kind of confused. One second they were talking to Seifer and Lina, but a second later, it appeared that all talking had stopped. Period. Seifer and Lina gave each other threatening glares, mentally challenging each other to the race that would determine who would acquire a new power. I can't let her win Seifer would think. But Lina would think, He knows I'm faster than him...he's going to try something funny.
3, 2, 1 and they were off! They both scrambled to it as fast as possible, everyone else was staring at them like they were crazy. Lina was out in front. She knew she was faster, he knew she was faster, so Seifer would have to attempt something a little more tricky to get her to slow down.
"Damn, I gotta get her to stop!" Seifer muttered under his breath. He looked up at her and yelled, a huge smirk on his face. "Will you be my girlfriend? LINA I LOVE YOU!" Lina's eyes widened in absolute horror and she tripped with an "OHF!!" She fell flat on her face. Seifer laughed evilly as he ran forward and grabbed the sphere. "HAH!" he yelled. "You really thought I meant that!? IN YOUR DREAMS!"
If you really meant that I would have killed myself, Lina thought. Seifer raised an eyebrow at her. Lina sat on the sand, picking her upper body up after that face full contact with the sand. She dusted some of it off with her hands, then shook her hair several times to free them of the sand. You are a damn cheater, Almasy.
"Me? A cheater?" Seifer asked sarcastically. Lina's eyes widened. Aw crap!! Mind reading powers!! "Yep," Seifer pranced around happily as Lina insulted him in her head for him to hear. "Hey! What do you mean I'm the queerest man on Earth!?"
Lina smiled sweetly and she continued to put on a contemplative face, al the while smirking maliciously at Seifer. Seifer seemed a tad bit scared by her thinking face, but as the words were transferred into his head, his face portrayed a very frustrated and disgusted fish-like expression.
"WHAT!? More queer than Nuriko!?" Seifer asked in disbelief. "There's no one more queer than Nuriko! YOU, LINA HEARTILLY, ARE EVIL!" Lina stood up and laughed at him, apologizing, also explaining that she was joking, and dusting off the rest of the sand stuck to her clothes.
