The girl walked up to Dan casually and patted him on the shoulder. She had a large bow of the finest, sturdiest wood strung around her back, suggesting that she specialized in archery. She looked up at Lina, then at Zell, then back to Dan. "Hey, Dan," she said. "Aren't you going to introduce me?"
"Oh yeah," Dan nodded, turning just slighting with his arm outstretched in Lina's direction. "Lina, this is Karen. Karen Lenzing." Karen slung her bow around her shoulders and set it aside, then shook Lina's hand with great fervor--er, more like shook her entire arm.
"Nice to meet ya, miss sorceress lady," Karen said happily as she slapped Lina on the arm a little violently, but in a friendly manner. Lina tried to smile at her, but seemed a little bit freaked out. Also, how did Karen know she was a sorceress? Oh yeah, this stuff gets around quick. "And you would be?" she beckoned in Zell's direction, carefully observing him as if he were some kind of experiment. Dan then slapped a hand to his forehead--how embarrassing.
"Oh, I'm Zell Dincht," Zell said, also shaking her hand, where instead, she shook his arm vigorously. "Are you with Dan?" Zell asked, his tone lightened up with hope, but Karen let out a very loud HAHH!!
"Who, Mr. Alanson over here???? Puh-lease," Karen laughed and Dan blushed deeply. Zell dunk back down as Lina giggled at Dan's red flushed face. Karen pulled Lina's arm and the two of them walked away from the guys and started their own separate conversation. You know, girl talk. "So...Zell guy yours?"
"Yeah," Lina nodded, blushing slightly at the thought. She felt so proud that she could say, "He's my boyfriend." Karen nodded, raising her eyebrows in general approval. Lina chuckled at her silly behavior and her blush turned even deeper. Karen was always full of energy, hyper and random all mixed in one. Lina immediately thought that her personality was just like Selphie's. Heck, they could be sisters.
Meanwhile, Dan and Zell stood at the side, having THE most forced conversation on the face of the planet. Zell stood, staring at Dan cautiously as if under suspicion of criminal activity. "So..." Dan said, focusing his eyes on and off on the apple green leaves on the blooming trees and the thick cloth like texture of the tree bark. Yes, so interesting. "Uh...how's it going?"
"Oh, great...great. How about you?" Zell asked, trying to seem even remotely interested in talking to Dan. They had absolutely nothing to converse about. Fact was, the only common ground they had was Lina, but for Dan it was too difficult to talk about her because in fact, he'd been in love with her since the seventh grade, but they both knew she loved only one, and that was Zell.
"I'm uh...I'm doing pretty good too," Dan said, nodding his head curtly. They continued to stand there a little bit dumbfounded by their own stupid conversation, searching for some escape to this embarrassing "conversation" if you could even call it that. Finally, after what seemed like forever, the girls came back from their little walk, Lina back to Zell's side, Karen back to wandering around everything and everyone included in the scene. Just then, two boys appeared behind Dan, both with long blond hair and sky blue eyes. Obviously, both were from Trabia as their uniforms were exactly the same as Dan's.
"Hello," one of them greeted, bowing slightly with common courtesy--his hair was longer than the other's. This was about the only way they could characterize him for now. His Junior uniform looked a little too small for his broad shoulders and long legs, but he seemed to be ignoring that. "I'm Nakago, just transferred from Trabia Garden."
"I'm Daccir," the shorter haired blond said; his uniform obviously fit perfectly and was trying his best not to laugh at Nakago's problem with his. Obviously, Nakago had joined Trabia at the last minute in a rush, and this was the only uniform they could expend to him. Lina looked back over Zell's shoulder where on the other side of the hill, a small picnic table was set up with the new arrivals registering for new Gardens.
"Oh," Zell replied rather dully. "Hiya." He'd rather be off with Lina taking a short walk of their own. The rest of them made their formal introductions, stating which school they were transferring from and such. It was always the typicall thing to do when meeting new friends, and all it was boring, it was all extremely necessary to become anything besides just acquainted.
"Nice to meet you all," Lina shook their hands one by one. "I'm Lina Heartilly." Daccir was about to say something with excitement, but Lina stopped him before he could scream. "Yes...Sorceress Lina. Magical powers and all..." she chuckled lightly as if it were as exciting to her as it was to them. "You guys new to Balamb Garden? Or have you been here on a previous tour?" All of them shrugged and explained that they were new to Garden. "Well! Welcome, welcome. I'm an instructor here teaching the history of sorceresses...I know, I know...ironic."
"Dang! Magical powers!" Daccir laughed out loud, his eyes widening with sudden interest. Lina nodded, smiling cheerfully. Karen jumped up and twirled around, expressing how "THAT IS SOOO COOL!!" Lina blushed and bowed her head slightly while Zell took her hand behind their backs and gave it a squeeze to wash away some of that misplaced embarrassment. "You from around here?" Daccir asked.
"Well...I live in Garden now, if that's what you mean, but I travel a lot," Lina said slowly. "But I mean...I actually came from a different world." Daccir's eyes then narrowed a little bit.
