The next day, Lina walked into class a little later than usual to see Karen, Nakago, Dan, and Daccir all new students in her class. She guessed telling them which subject she taught let them all decide to join her class. "Class," Lina called the attention of her usually chatty students, but everyone was already quiet and staring at the newcomers. "I'd like you to meet Karen Lenzing." Karen jumped up cheerfully and stuck out three fingers into the air for the hell of it. "Daniel Alanson." Dan smiled and nodded slightly. "Nakago, and Daccir." Lina had not yet found out the last names of either of them.
"Hey!" people started calling from across the room. Things started to get just a little rowdy, so Lina just let them have a few minutes to talk amongst themselves. During that time, members of the class jumped up out of their seats to swarm the newcomers, and Zell snuck up to the front of the classroom to talk to Lina. In the middle of the mess, little Scott Twang, a dirty blond hazel eyed boy who blended well into the crowd, finally mustered up enough nerve to tap Karen on the shoulder.
"Hi," was all he said to her for the time being, his eyes fluttered shyly. Karen slapped his cheek twice as her acknowledgement of his speaking to her; she seemed to always be lively and full of energy. Strange that they were such polar opposites. "Um...yeah...so you come from Trabia?"
"Yep!" she almost yelled, attracting the attention of several others nearby. Scott blushed, realizing that Karen had suddenly turned the spotlight onto the both of them. While Scott was never sought deliberate attention from anyone or anything, Karen got it just by being herself. "Thanks for noticing, pal." Then, some other guy interrupted their little conversation, but tapping Karen on the other shoulder.
"Hey...you wanna go out sometime?" the conceited little jerk smirked, trying to get an arm around Karen's neck all the while. "I know you want to."
"Sure, but I'd have to kill you first to test how delirious you are," she responded happily as if there was nothing remotely scary about that and turned away from him, a satisfied smile on her face; she didn't even turn back around to see him sit there all rigid as if someone had shot him square in the face. He almost fell over from his chair when he finally digested exactly what she had said.
"Alright, everyone, settle down now... Meet-and-Greet is over," Lina said and Zell reluctantly went back to his seat. Then, class proceeded as usual as Lina and the students discussed the many sorceresses of the past and how they were all descendants of Hyne to one degree or another. Nakago almost mentioned Gorld at some point in the debate, but Lina avoided it and ignored the cold stinging pains at her sides all the while.
After class Dan went up to her desk and chattered with her for a little while, talking about things that she'd remembered from the past and how they used to do this and that. She was so happy to have her memory back, but she didn't know how to express it besides formal conversation. Zell saw her talking to Dan and started to feel a little knot form in his stomach. Quickly after Dan saw Zell rise from his seat, he bid Lina farewell and left for the hallway.
"Hey...Lina," Zell said standing behind her as she erased something from the front board. She set the eraser down and turned roughly around, bumping into him. They both laughed and he caught her in his arms and they were both comfortable. "Do you by any chance...like Dan?"
"He's just my friend, Zell," Lina smiled at him and hooked her arm around his neck. "I haven't seen him in a very long time, that's all, I just miss him."
"Okay...what about Nakago and Daccir?" Zell raised an eyebrow, but Lina just kind of laughed out loud and kissed him.
"No, Zell, I do not like them like that," she said and leaned in closer to give him a kiss, but Nakago and Daccir entered the room again, and Lina looked up, cheeks red, "Hey, guys. How are things?"
"Oh...sorry if we're interrupting anything...but do you think you could show us around? We're pretty much completely lost right now," Daccir said and Nakago nodded--he was more of less the silent type. Lina obliged and headed towards them, pulling Zell by the hand along with her. Out in the hallway they saw Dan and Karen pacing back and forth and convinced them to join along in the tour group. They would do anything to get away from the boredom. Lina took them through the twisting halls of Balamb Garden, showing them the Training Center with its simulated forest, the Garage where the cars were parked, the Library used for peaceful study, the Infirmary where Lina recalled her many times waking up there to see Zell's worried yet smiling face lingering over her, the Cafeteria where they would eat all meals and gossip for the latest rumors, and the Dormitory which is self-explanatory.
Lina showed them how thedorms were set up, a hallway with golden numbers painted on the light brown doors, and at the end of the long hallway, it only segued into another portion of the Dormitory so that all the SeeDs and Juniors could have their own living quarters. "If you guys ever need anything...my dorm is number twenty-one," Lina told them all and pointed down the hallway.
"OOOOO!! Cool!" Karen jumped into the air happily and pointed to the door across from Lina's room. "Mine's right there close to yours! Roooooom number twenty!" They both giggled and continued on with the tour. Zell stayed quiet as a statue the entire time, following the group with nothing to say to any of the guys.
Following the tour, they became well acquainted with each other, sharing laughs and jokes during the majority of each day, and for two weeks, they all became close friends. Karen and Lina were inseparable, and the snapping of amnesia only strengthened Lina's platonic bond with Dan. Things couldn't seem to get any better than that.
