"I think we should play Chop Suey again," Dan announced knowingly. Dan wasn't usually the one who picked the songs they would play, but he did have the most experience with a guitar in the group and was their best player. Chop Suey was a very famous song known throughout the world. They all nodded in agreement. It wasn't considered taking an order from Dan, but fact was, they enjoyed playing Chop Suey because it's an awesome song.
"Good idea!" they concurred, nodding slightly. Dan picked up his trusty guitar and played a small cord to the beginning of Chop Suey. Instantly, they all picked up their instruments and began to play Chop Suey, but they were stopped for a moment because someone had stopped playing their part of the song.
"Agh," Lina pulled the guitar strap from around her neck. She grabbed the guitar and swung it over on her lap, examining it's strings and knobs. She look up at the others apologetically. "It's off tune."
"I'll get it!" Dan jumped up at once off the floor as he took the guitar out of her hands and into his. "I could tune this thing in the dark." He adjusted the knobs skillfully and strummed the thin wiry strings a couple of times, once in a while nodding to reassure the sound. After a moment he handed it back to her. "There you go," he smiled proudly. Lina took it and tried it out. She smiled and played a small melody--the part she had missed in Chop Suey.
"Thanks," she nodded and Dan could feel his cheeks going red.
"Ah, well, I been playing since I was six," he chuckled, continuing to blush as he rubbed the back of his neck and tried to stay modest. Lina patted the side of her guitar and smiled towards Dan thankfully. It probably would have taken her a LOT longer to tune the guitar, but Dan was obviously much more experienced than her...and everyone else.
"Why didn't you tell me that in the seventh grade?" Lina asked him. She and Dan had been best of friends since the seventh grade. Dan had a crush on her, but Lina's heart belonged to Zell and Lina had always looked at their relationship as a platonic one; it was not apparent that Dan had always been in love with her.
"I don't know," Dan shrugged, smiling sheepishly. Lina chuckled at him as they turned to each other to carry on their conversation. "I guess it just slipped my mind."
"HELLO!?" Seifer stopped them there, thuroughly annoyed with what was going on. Lina stared at him with similar annoyance; he had just rudely interupted their conversation. He threw his hands up in the air and waved them in their faces crazily. "Is this practice session or flirting session!?" he yelled at the two of them for being stupid and holding up the rest of the group. "COME ON!"
"Sorry, sheesh," Dan stuck his tongue out at Seifer's face as a joke and a mock. Seifer tried to punch him, but Lina and Karen grabbed hold of his arms and held him back. They then continued practicing Chop Suey and other songs they would play for the dance.
