The next song they played was "This I Promise You" by *N Sync. Dan sang, Seifer played the guitar, and Scott played the drums. Karen and Lina sat at the side of the stage, taking a break from their hard work on the stage.
Lina felt a tap on her shoulder and she looked up to see Zell standing above her, smiling and asking, "May I have this dance?" Lina hopped up immediately, also smiling widely. She threw her arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around her waist and they danced together happily.
I've loved you forever, in lifetimes before,
And I promise you never, will you hurt anymore,
I give you my word; I give you my heart,
This is a battle we've won, and with this vow,
Forever has now begun."
"I love you," he reminded her. Lina smiled. She always felt like she belonged in Zell's arms; his warm embrace would always wrap her in a protective shield and her fears and worries would disappear suddenly. Her life wasn't exactly the greatest. She was always in a life-threatening position and sometimes even on the run. Her past wasn't enthralling either. She had been mistreated and abused, and after all of that crap, she stumbled across the portal that led her to this world, the one where she belonged; where Zell was.
Over and over I fall, when I hear you call, without you in my life, baby,
I just wouldn't be living at all.
And I will take you in my arms, and hold you right where you belong,
Till the day my life is through, this I promise you.
Just close your eyes, each loving day, and know this feeling won't go away
Every word I say is true, this I promise you. Every word I say is true, this I promise you.
Oh, I promise you."
The song ended, but Lina remained in his arms, melting away in his love.
"Okay, lover boy," Seifer stood behind them. "Let go, this little lady has to perform." Seifer stared at Lina. "What did you just call me?" (Seifer can read minds, he's a Receiver of Powers like Lina and Lina just called him a bastard.) "Grrrr," Seifer prodded them apart and dragged a reluctant Lina away from a reluctant Zell.
