| 2000- Another big year for Newsboys and its members! Newsboys released Shine the Hits, a best-of project with three new songs Joy, Praises, and Who along with a version of their song God is not a Secret with special guest TobyMac! But the hit from the hits album proved to be Joy, a tune that would make any coca-cola commercial jingle cringe. lol |

| Five year member, Philip Joel, released his first solo album Watching Over You in 2000. It was very well recieved and brought about a highly sucessful, Strangely Normal tour for Phil. Title track Watching Over You recieved a bit of radio play along with song Strangely Normal. But even more significant in Phil's life was the birth of his first child, a daughter, Phynley! |

| 2001- Phil and Peter weren't the only 'boys with some solo work going on! Guitarist, Jody Davis, released a self-titled solo album on Pamplin records. This album recieved very little publicity, and almost no radio play -to my knowledge, anyway. But it is a very good album, with vocals as strong as any of Jody's guitar solos! And, just as with band mate Phil Joel, with the release of a solo album came a daughter as well! On February 13, 2001 Bethany Catherine Davis was born. |
| As to the exact date of this happening, I'm still a little shaky, but if I am not mistaken several months before Phil's album came out, Newsboys manager Wes, and newsboy, Peter Furler started their own record label, Inpop. |
