| 1989- the Newsboys recorded their first album, Read all about it in the United States (New Jersey, I believe). And then toured with several CCM artists.And in 1990 they were signed with StarSong records and recorded their second Album Hell is for Wimps They also shot their first real music video for their first "hit", Simple Man. |

| As you can see Peter was once the Newsboys drummer (nice pink drums there Peter) and did, at one time, have hair. |
| But you can say goodbye to the punk 80's look and grunge rock n' roll because in 1991 the 'boys recorded their thrird album Boyz will be Boyz. (yes, it was as campy as it sounds, trust me!) As stated before some images may be disturbing, those with weak stomachs and deep hatreds for boy bands should turn back now! |
| I warned you! Apparently baggy shorts, and lime green caps were the Newsboys clothing of choice in '91. But what makes it worse was that they actually had very elaborate choreography........yea. But, not to fear! Thanks to StarSong president Darrell Harris in 1992 the Newsboys teamed up with the strange, but genius, Steve Taylor! |

| Yes, in 1992 Newsboys (they dropped the the out of their name) recorded what Peter Furler calls "our first real album." With producer/ songwriter Steve Taylor. This album brought about the first round of success Newsboys had. The album featured mega hit Not Ashamed and other hits like Out of my System and Dear Shame. It also spawned Newsboys second half hour "movie", appropriately titled Not Ashamed: the Movie. |

| If you will look to the right of this text you will see none other than Duncan Phillips, and yes he is playing the keyboards in the band. And now,if you look to your right again you will see a younger and long-haired Jody Davis who remains Newsboys guitarist to this day. |
