What is a fanlisting?
A fanlisting is a place, usually a website, where fans of a certain character, film, etc. gather together to try and build a listing of as many fans as possible of that subject. For more information, check out thefanlistings.org.
Who are Romulus and Remus?
Romulus and Remus are the mythological founders of Rome. Their mother was Rhea Silvia, the daughter of King Numitor of Alba Longa (founded by Ascanius, son of Aeneas). But when the king was overthrown by his brother, Amulius, she was made a Vestal virgin; it was prophesied that her children would threaten his power. Mars, the God of War, still seduced her and she gave birth to twin boys: Romulus and Remus. The babies were abandoned in the Tiber River along with their mother, but were saved by a she-wolf and later raised by a shepherd. As adults, they returned to Alba Longa, killed Amulius and restored Numitor to the throne. They then went on to found Rome on the Palatine Hill. As Romulus was the older of the two, the city was named after him. Remus, in his jealousy, mocked him by jumping over the unfinished walls of the city (a sacrilege in those times) or, depending on the version of the story. He was then killed by his older brother.
