I couldn't stop laughing! Actually, you're right, I used to have an issue with L or R as well. But I settle for R. Still, this story was hilarious.

Rather old fic, I know, but... ^^; Ah well. Anyway, very amusing. Your mother reminds me of my grandmother XD
*bounce* You take aikido? That boosts your cool meter way up the scale. I'm san kyu, myself. Utterly devoted to the art, but damned if I can use projections 20-24 correctly ><
Anyway, to the question at hand... Because Japanese is a non-romantic language, there is no absolute correct way to spell anything, but we are Roman-speaking people do have regulations. There are three main types of Romanization, Kunrei-shiki, Nippon-shiki, Hepburn. Viz Comics uses a direct Hepburn, while Tokyopop and Dark Horse use a modified Hepburn, the different being that the Viz uses circumflexed long vowels, while Tokyopop and Dark Horse leave them be ("uu"). But regardless, in all forms the "rl" sound is spelled with a Roman "r". Always.

Go Roku! Your fics get funnier and funnier! But I didn't get past the episode where Hotohori dies! ::hangs head:: I'm so behind... Anyhow, the Tasuki-lookin' kid IS a joke right? A cruel, sick one, but a joke, nonetheless!

HAil, all great Roku Kyu-Sama!

Usually I see it as Lekka Shinnen, but as long as it's recognisable, I don't really mind...
About the new series of Fushigi Yuugi (3rd OVA), I saw it! it's so cool!

NURIKO-SAMA FOREVER!!!! WAI!!!!
He's sooo cute reincarnated into a girl!

I saw it on DVD from secret resources from overseas.. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*sigh* Australia's such a anime deprived country compared to other ones.....
ah well! betta some than none!

YOur other fics are great! I enjoy reading them soo much but i'm jusy waaaaay too lazy to review sometimes.... gomen nasai. ^.^; But you're one of my fav authors , besides Purple Mouse and ryuen!

my parents aren't against me liking anime. My dad joins me! ehehehehe^___^
*sigh* ah, the interaction between parent and daughter in that fic is just wonderful isnt' it?

I'm a bit like your dad. I tend to run around imitating Miaka's screams, and babbling bits of jap randomly (i'm chinese by tha way).. I'm suprised i'm not at a mental hospital yet...

I blame it all on overexposure to anime...not that it's a bad thing...^____________^

I'm looking forward to more updates on "casting stones" ! JA!

Hey there hi there ho there...

Uh...nevermind...lol...

I found this fic eons ago, after finding White Stones, but I'm a lazy person who doesn't review...unless there is someone holding a gun to my head...*cough*Lenore*cough*...mmm...I lmao at it the first time 'round, partly cuz it was two in the morning...oh well. I guess I get to have fun tomorrow, a bunch of Japanese exchange students are coming to our school, and I get to be a "canadian buddy"...yay...this should be interesting. I'm living proof Canadians are nuts...I hope I don't kill the poor guy I'm partnered with. Maybe I'll follow up to this review on how much I confuse him. They are supposed to be coming here to learn some more English...funny part is, they came to Quebec...all French...tsk, useless...

And on another note, yes I did finish my history project. And I got a 95...not bad...maybe I should read your fics while doing homework more often...

I REALLY love Inuyasha (the series), but I'm starting to get a lil' ticked off by Kagome. She relies on Inuyasha too much! She has four, no, FIVE other characters that would willingly protect her (Miroku, Sango, Shippou, Kouga, Kirara)! Rumiko Takahashi should show a little more interaction among the whole group (As in, not just Kagome/Inuyasha, Miroku/Sango, but the whole group together!). Anyways, in my family, we have the "meh meh stick", a skinny green plastic tube that belonged to one of those kiddie clubhouse thingies with the slide and a roof held up by green tubes. (Meh meh is "spank" in Korean.)And my mother is the loony part of the family while my father is strictly stirn. It's great that you risk your behind and research for your story!

Hilarious! I almost fell off my chair laughing :) Unfortunately, my attempts at exposing my parents to Anime were unsuccessful and ended up with zilch results. Mom is tolerant because she use to speak Japenese when she lived there for 5 years in her youth (she's Chinese, but was born in Vietnam). Dad...*sighs* Dad likes to make Aiiiii!! Aiiiii!! noises in the background too, because commenting snidely about how everyone's screaming. My sister and I silence him with death glares. LoL...anyhoo, keep up the funny stuff, and I enjoyed your "White Stones in the Moonlight" fic very much--wonderfully written! I don't remember if I reviewed that fic, so just know that I enjoyed it very much, even though I'm torn between Miaka and Tasuki ( I LOVE Tasuki!) and Miaka and Tamahome (but am leaning towards Tamahome). Keep up the great writing!

This was very funny (especially when Mom is screaming the incantation!!) and entirelly correct (since Japanese people have a problem distinguishing L from R, the whole talk on the subject of Rekka or Lekka is indeed pointless). Even though I've moved on from FY and don't read its fics anymore, I did read a bit from your fic and found it complex and interesting. :) From what little I read, I liked indeed your characterization of Tasuki (the rest of the seishi as well, but I'm a Tasuki girl! ^.~).

I also want to thank you for writing such a mature review for my Chichiri/Mitsukake fic (I passed your aknowledgement to my beta, too). There exists only a 3rd and final part, but I never bothered to translate it, for it's a retelling of ep 47 (and we all know how it ends! ;_;). Thank you again! ^_^

Yep, that's right. I'm Chinese, and we have BOTH sounds! It's the worst ever! I tell you right now! I'm reading, and all the R's are L's but the L's are L's and how am I supposed to differentiate anyways? Typically, it's Rekka because that's how Hiragana charts work. No L, just an R. OK, that is ENOUGH ranting.

Now, I understand why others spell it as Rekka or Lekka. The only thing that I never knew is that Shinen is spelled as Shin'en. Actually, I don't bother that much about how to spell it, but there's a need for me to know these things now because I had it in my mind to write a fic.You have clarify a point that used to bother me about R and L, because there is an anime that's a fave of mine wherein the character's name is Rukawa but the subbed of that anime I've seen on cable tv spell his name as Lukawa.

Btw, my mother likes watching anime , too, although not as fanatic as I am. I can remember a particular anime that I always watch on tv and somehow my mom once saw it and began to watch the said anime, from that day on she got hooked on the said anime. If she had not seen a particular episode because she had gone out, she would ask me what happened to the story. On the other hand, my father never like anime for he thinks that it's just kid stuff.Sorry, I have babbled far too long, it's time for me to shut up.

*falls off bed, laughing hysterically, while hoping her chibi (read as laptop) isn't dead* I soooo envy you, Roku-chan!

I love the Japanese LR thing. I've been attempting (not very well, but y'know) to teach myself Japanese with one of those box & tapes thingys. *shrugs* It took me forever to learn the LR thing but I love it sooo much now!

*pokes her translated english FY* Wish I could read Japanese. *pokes her Japanese FY Vol1 and FY Kanzeban 1, 2, 3.* Fushigi Yuuuugi. *snicker*

Your parents are so cool! *snickers at the thought of my own dad running around screaming "Aiiieeee! Aiieeee! Chotto-matte!Aiiieeeee!"* Although, it is funny for my dad to vocally translate (completely wrong, of course) from the door (or try to lipsynch) when I'm watching fansubs. *snickersnicker*

Sometimes, I wish my parents were into anime. But then I think "No. My mother could not tak about anime. Just. No." ^_~. Ah well...

Loved all of you out there with Japanese mothers who can identify with the story. Roku-chan told me to read up on some of the reviews and, when I did, I remembered a funny moment from the past. When I picked up a new puppy one summer night, I named her "Claire". My mom's attempts to say her name left us all in stitches......(Hey! didn't Roku say she DID have a sibling like Tasuki?)

Wow, so sneaky! But, you have to try in order to write an awesome fanfic (yours is awesome, by the way). That was pretty funny. The first fanfic that was actually funny that included real people. :sigh: We don't see many fanfics like that out, huh?

*cracks up* I love this! Your dad's really cool, and your mother reminds me of mine (she's also Japanese, and I'm taking a Japanese language class in school, and I STILL mispronounce things to which she pounces on me for... gah...). I really like your dad's making fun of Tamahome and Miaka... really priceless, and I cracked up. ^_^

This is such a funny story. With a life like this, and such a light touch in writing, you could probably write it into quite an enjoyable novel. Or, at least several short stories. I really enjoyed this! And nice to get the last word on the Rekka/Lekka debate, as well.

ROKU-CHAN! YOU POSTED IT! ~glomp~ Now which one of us goaded you into posting? Whoever it was, I gotta thank 'em! Hopefully this'll prove beneficial to quite a few people who insist on "purity" in things - there is no way in the English language to be exactly right with this thing people! THANK YOU Roku-chan for putting this up and maybe un-confusing people!
(That is just one of the funnest sounds to make, the RL thing. I can't do a Spanish R to save my life, but I can do a Japanese RL. Ain't it weird? But so cool!)

Okay, so I'm reviewing myself...NOT! Just decided to answer a few questions. Now, for Arashi, I'm going to reveal the meaning behind my pen name (drum roll) - it's kinda lame. In Aikido, roku kyu, or rokyu, is the lowest rank that you can have (of course, there is unranked beneath that). I just achieved my roku kyu ranking in February (Hurray!) so what I'm trying to say is that as a writer, same as in aikido, I'm an absolute beginner! And Arashi, I know more Polish than Japanese because I grew up in a Polish neighborhood! I also bake some mean kolacky!
And a question for Ryuen...where is Who's On First?!! (the FY version is the one I think you mean, not the original Abbott-and-Costello). I looked on your list of stories and it wasn't there! I'd really like to read it - I think I read a little of it once (didn't it start out with Nuriko and Tasuki?) but I never got the chance to finish it.
And finally, Mouse-chan. All right, maybe a light bluish-lavender wouldn't be bad for Chichiri...as long as it isn't Tinky-Winky purple. I mean, otherwise, they'll have to go look for him in the Village, right? ^^

This was really scary... I think it must be a "Japanese mom" thing. My baa-chan has the same kind of L/R pronunciation thing going, so it's always fun trying to get her to translate things for me. I'm glad I can sorta read Japanese now. It was really scary when I tried to get her and Jii-chan to translate a Japanese Digimon manga I have... But this still made me laugh; it was really really cute.

Hey Itsa Stupid Kid!

I'm the first one you told about this posting and, dang it!, if I ain't one of the last to give you a review. Oh, to share similar genes with a sibling but not have the writing talent of her....sigh! I guess I'd never realize how eccentric our family was until I actually saw your "snapshot" of our parents. Now I'm quaking to see if you decide to "snapshot" your siblings in a fanfic story. (The argument between Tasuki and Hotohori doesn't count, either!) Anyway, despite my half-Japanese heritage in which I tried to read this story with the supercilious air of a patient sister humoring the nutty one, I couldn't help but guffaw at the exchange between you and Mom. I also had to laugh at Dad's rendition of Miaka...which, in my opinion, is dead-on. So! Kudos to you, Roku-Chan! Now....you're going to owe me big time to keep this one from the folks! Bwahahahahahaha......

*looks down to Arashi's review* boy...she can talk a lot, not that it's a bad thing^_^

Anyway, you gave a great explination of the whole pronouciation. I had a fight with one of my friends over the internet before about that. she said that it was "Rekka" because that's what they use in the dub but I had to exlain that the dub verision it's english people who probably can't speack more then 2 phrases in japanese. Here's a new lesson: NEVER TRUST THE DUB!

...Then we had a fight about the "Shin'en" thing...She was spelling it "Shien" *shudder* the horror!!!!

As a fledgling in the Japanese language, mind if I put in my two cents? *pauses for a long moment and then realizes that Roku Kyu can't say one way or another, then clears throat and looks sheepish* Absolutely right about the R and L sounds, but I'd say, when you're writing it... to go with Rekka. When we learned the romanized forms of hiragana we learned them as ra, ri, ru, re, ro. Pronounced rla, rli, rlu, rle, rlo of course... but we spell it with the "R's".

Are your parents really this cool? Dang, I wish MY parents would watch Anime with me. My dad walked in on me one time when I was home for a weekend and watching FY with my little brother. Unfortunately, it was right when Tomo was getting his arse kicked by Suboshi and then there was the whole 'leaves of forgetfulness' juice delivered mouth to mouth by two boys who look identical. My dad was a bit... uh... confused. He gave me a look, looked back and the screen, and then just walked off to do his thing. I giggled.

So does all this research mean you're close to posting the next chapter?? Can't wait! :) Oh hey, while we're on the subject of Japanese... you're pen name, "roku kyu"... as in roku = 6, and kyu = 9? As in, 69? Except, it's not actually 69, it's just 6 and 9. Sixty nine would be roku juu kyu. :) Of course, kyu and roku probably have a million other meanings I'll never even learn! *grin* So forgive my insolence, ne? And hey... if you've got a cool mom just sitting there that is totally fluent in Japanese, I'd be begging her to teach me. I always wished I'd been taught something other than English as a child... or by my parents. All I got for my effort was about 10 words of Polish. :) So if you ever want to know how to say "come here dog" in Polish, drop me an email. LOL! Oh yeah, one last thing! I love the Inu Yasha comments in here! I just got interested in this one... seen 3 episodes and I'm already dying for more! You're mom has good tastes! (RK, FY, AND Inu Yasha??) :) I'll be waiting for White Stones!!
