Adolph Henry (Heinrich) SCHULTZ (1892-1958)
Adolph & Gertrude WIESE SCHULTZ had two sons: Robert "Bob" Louis SCHULTZ (1916-1965) and Austin Vincent SCHULTZ (1919-1991).

From Mary (Mrs. Austin) SCHULTZ: Poppy attended college in Milwaukee where he met Mom (Gertrude). Poppy SCHULTZ was transferred from the Milwaukee Colgate Palmolive Peet plant to Kansas City, Kansas, plant in 1926. He was a draftsman. He went into the payroll dept. in 1948 after a heart attack. He retired from Colgate at age 65. He only lived one year on Social Security retirement when he passed away. When Mom died I went over and cleaned his house and every day he came to our house for supper. It was after supper one day that he took a stroke. He lived some time partially paralyzed, never able to talk (14 days) and then passed on.

From Rosalind SCHULTZ JACKSON: Grandma & Grandpa were my angels! They were the best to me very sweet spoiled me. They loved to have me at their home I spent most of my free time there. They had a cherry tree in the backyard that we climbed. My best friends lived across the street. Lots of fun times!

I was very happy Grandpa was able to come to California for my wedding in June 1958. When Grandpa had been very sick in the hospital he was waiting to die on the same day Grandma did five years earlier (August 3, 1953). But he died the day before the anniversary of her death in August 2, 1958.

After Grandpas death, we inherited his dog, Tippy. He was not a friendly dog, but he liked me so Rick & I took him when we were first married. He was a medium black, mixed-breed with jagged teeth which were a result from eating lye soap! He got out of the yard and ran away; we never found him.

Gertrude Martha WIESE SCHULTZ (1893-1953)
From Mary (Mrs. Austin) SCHULTZ: Gertrude was an only child. Her father died when she was 8 years old. Grandma (Martha WIESE) never remarried until mom (Gertrude) was grown up and married, only then did she marry Fredrick Freddie Austin ZONA. I understand he was close to Marthas age. Martha died while Austin was in the service (just before we met). Gertrude lived in Milwaukee, her mom worked in restaurants. Freddie owned a caf on Ogden Ave., he lived above the place. Austin & I visited him on our honeymoon. He was a dear man. He came to Gertrudes funeral in KC. Freddie died in the 1980s. He was living in Milwaukee with his niece.

When Adolph & Gertrude were first married they lived in Milwaukee. When she was pregnant they moved to the little farm in Ft. Atkinson, WI. She quit her job as an entertainer. She told me she sang, and played and also taught the uke. Said she had a 15 minute radiocast that was sponsored by Ukulele Ike!

When Austin & I married, Rozzy was 4 years old and David 7 mos. (both were born on January 24th. Our first daughter was due to be born on January 24th too, but popped in on Jan. 4, 1949 disappointing mom. She wanted all her grandchildren to be born on the same day!

From Rosalind SCHULTZ JACKSON: Grandma was a full-time homemaker and would take me to preschool at the Lutheran church. Grandma took me with her to a bar in the afternoon; I remember singing the Beer Barrel Polka and Dont Fence Me In with her she had a good singing voice.

Memories originally compiled in 1996.
