All I can say is WOW! This weekend was THE coolest thing I have ever experienced in my life. Outside of it being INCREDIBLY hot at Lifest, Michael, the kids and I thought it was the best weekend of the summer so far. The groups that we listened to, the music they sang, the message they spoke.... it touches your soul so deep it totally pumps you up to bring the Lord into every aspect of your life. For those of you who may not be familiar with Christian music, it comes in all types of genres, from pop to jazz to rap to hard rock, etc. Our family likes some of the same groups, but then we split and listened to our own groups/singers. Nick is a complete fan of TobyMac now (rap), Taylor found an incredible role model in Rebecca St. James (pop), and Michael and I both enjoyed Newsboys the best. In all cases, the message is the best...nothing is more important in this world than praising God and living life for Him. As you can tell, we all came home very jazzed up. It is an experience that I hope you all can enjoy someday. It truly is awe inspiring.
And as always, it was a blast to be with brother Joe, sister-in-law Beth and kids. They are wonderful hosts and we feel so lucky to have them in our lives. Thanks for a great weekend guys! We love you~
Joe Huenink had called Beth earlier that week and they made arrangements for him to come and spend Saturday night with us. After the concerts, we had a firepit and enjoyed burning a lot of Joe Stroede's business paperwork. However, I do believe Joe is a bit of a pyro, as the fire would get bigger and bigger. We were all pretty sure there was some kind of ordinance against the burning, but Joe's just a radical. :-) The best part of the night was that Joe Huenink surprised us and brought Brittany and Maggie to visit us! Talk about beautiful grand daughters. Thanks Joe, it meant a lot to us. They were a true joy to be around and it was a real treat for Taylor and Nick as well. They love to hang out with the girls, and we never realize just how much we miss them until we get to see them again.
Now it's back to the grindstone. The kids are enjoying being home after 2 busy weeks for them. I know this because they are not fighting with one another. Hmmmm.... wonder how long I can get this to last. :-) We are home for 2 weeks now, but will be busy working on our fair entries. It's a fun but chaotic, crazy time. And our 4-H agent in the county has asked each of us leaders to submit entries as well. Hmmm...let's see, should I dazzle them with my cooking abilites? Or stick with something safe, like my quilting. I highly doubt I'll take a prize in either category, but it will be fun nonetheless, and will make for a better Fair. Our county fair isn't quite as big as the ones you are all used to, I'm sure.
And be sure to click on Mikey's website and see all the wonderful changes Kendie has made. It looks great. But I keep telling her we want to see pictures of everyone. Makes us feel like we are almost there with them. So Kendie, the pressure is on!
Until the next entry...much love to all. |
