Home alone~
Isn't this weather gorgeous?  It was a pretty uneventful week at our house; is that great or what!!!   :-)  Not an obligation to fulfill or a place required to be at.  H-E-A-V-E-N! Only the routine of working and daily living.  The kids have been sleeping late, and I've been catching up on my quilting.  Got another one done!  If I think of it, I'll get a picture of it from my friend Liz that I gave it to for her birthday, and post it on the website.  I know how you're all just dieing to see it!  ;-)  Anyhow, I did make use of some of the comp time I've accumulated and took Tuesday off.  But of course, it decided to rain all day.  I sauntered out of bed, and headed to the couch with my coffee, just in time to watch a movie with the kids.  Then we all read for a while as well. What better way to spend a day of rain?  I love thunderstorms.  Before I knew it, Michael was home at noon for lunch and I was still in my bathrobe!  (it was wonderful!)  But I feined guilt and made him some lunch.  After we sent him back to work, we headed off to explore the Ladysmith Library.  A wonderful facility, by far better than any other in the area.  We each got a library card and stored up for more summer reading.  Taylor is reading the Harry Potter series and is totally engrossed in that.  Nick picked a fictional sports story and a western.  (Gotta have those guns.)  I stuck with my romances, and I got Michael the next in the Hobbit series.  He's enjoying getting all the details that they don't even touch on in the movies.  We had a great time there.  I read quilting magazines, Taylor and Nick played chess, and then Nick stomped me in checkers.  grrrrrrrrr.... we'll rematch, not to worry.

Then on Friday, well, for those of you I didn't obnoxiously remind, it was MY BIRTHDAY!  :-)  My fabulous husband was heading out of town for the weekend, but before he left, cooked me a wonderful steak dinner on the grill.  My beautiful children made me homemade gifts that brought tears to my eyes, and Mike remembered to call and sing (just a tad off key) to me.  Thank you everyone else for your wonderful emails, cards, phone calls and well wishes. I love you all.  Every year, you make the day special for me.  I'm going to Wal-Mart tonight to spend my birthday $$.  I'll let you know what I get!

Michael headed down to Fredonia for a deer hunting buddy's wedding, as well as to take the kids to stay with Grandma for a week.  They picked Mike up in Abbotsford and away they went. He blessed me with a weekend home alone! What did I do you ask?  Not a thing!  I had a firepit, some friends came over to hang with me, I cleaned a lot, I read, I quilted, I watched some chick flicks that Michael never lets me watch and I relaxed.  I must admit though, it's amazing to me just how much my life is filled with my husband and children.  I like the time alone, but I LOVE the time with them.  They truly make my life complete and I'm so grateful to have them.

Apparently Michael and Mike had a good time at the wedding.  So good of a time that Joe had to drive them home to my brother David's house.  Apparently he was enjoying his time without me too!  :-)  But they both really liked staying with David and Sandy, who had a wedding of their own I guess, but thanks for letting them stay.  Glad they didn't wake you at 3:00 am!  And congrats to Joe - I hear you accepted a new job.  Look forward to hearing all about it.

The kids got to spend Saturday night with their cousins and Uncle E (my brother Eric).  Thanks bro.  I haven't talked to them, but my niece Ashley wrote to tell me that they had a lot of fun together Saturday night and Taylor and Nick were looking forward to the Brewers game Grandma was taking them to on Sunday!  They've never been to the new stadium.  Grandma swore me to secrecy, but apparently she told them when Michael dropped them off and they were thrilled.  This week at Grandma's will be one they won't soon forget, I'm sure.

So that's it.  Michael and I are back at work today and trying to think of some romantic things to do while the kids are gone.  Any suggestions?  We had a takeout picnic last night, and tonight are going to have a smoochy time around a firepit dinner, but that's as far as we've planned.  Most likely by the end of the week we'll be back to the daily grind and the honeymoon will be over.  Sigh.  But then again, maybe not...(wink, wink, nudge, nudge).

The kids will be back on Saturday, with Mom and Joe, as Nick starts football this week.  And FYI Taylor is joining volleyball this year.  You are all invited to watch that as well!
