| As a teacher and librarian, my mission is to practice acceptance, attention, affirmation, affection, and appreciation of your child and family. My goal is to provide a child-centered classroom where students are assisted in their academic, social, and personal growth. Finally, I promote problem solving skills, and enhance literacy through self-discovery instruction. |
| READING - Reading materials will correspond with the Social Science curriculum to encourage strengthening of historic perspectives. On occasion students will b e asked to purchase a reading book in order that marginalia, note taking, and highlighting skills needed in high school or college are learned. WRITING - Writing is the basis of communication in education and business. It is important that students develop style, voice, and concrete mechanical skills to be successful. Many assignments will be given and require parent signatures and positive comments for full credit. OBSERVATION - Students will be given opportunities for cultural enrichment in the form of film, art, and drama. These visual arts create the basis of our society and are necessary for participation in our culture as a fully educated person. This enrichment will compliment the academic format. |

| Dear Parents, I look forward to a year of growth and maturation with your child at Vista Verde. As a parent, I am familiar with the huge leaps of development that middle school students experience both inwardly and outwardly. As a teacher, I enjoy observing your child's maturation in intellectual reasoning and social skills. I believe your child is responsible for their learning experience. It is up to each student to participate, listen, and actively engage in the classroom and in their education. Although I am a supportive component to their classroom experience, it is the job of the student to internalize, piece together new information, and produce assignments that demonstrate what they have learned. In this way, you and I are facilitators in your child's education. |
