| Week 30 6/2/02 - 6/8/02 |
| Well the NST situation isn't getting any better. I have about had it with these things and am about to just stop them all together!! I saw the "bad" doctor at my practice this week. She didn't like the NST, so she immediately made us go to this special ultra-sound place for a biophysical on the baby. We were there for about an hour. The doctor there was so nice, thank goodness! He double checked to make sure our girl was still a girl and also measured the baby for me when I asked if she looked the right size..(baby is measuring a week ahead of schedule!! YEY!!) Anyway, they do these biophysicals on a points scale of 10. The baby did great on 4 out of 5 things so she got an 8 of 10. The only thing she didn't do was the "practice breathing", which he said was OK. He said that they do not do it all of the time. He had to call the "bad" doctor and let her know how it went. She tells him she needs to talk to me..... she tells me that since my NST wasn't "reactive" and the baby isn't doing the breathing that it is "very concerning" and that we need to go to the hospital and have them monitor us right away. So now I am worried!! But the doctor at the ultra-sound place couldn't believe it. He said going to the hospital would be a waste of time and that the baby is just fine and that they don't always do this breathing. But here she is trying to freak me out and tell me I need to be concerned. So Jim and I went home, made dinner... and went to the hospital. They did another NST first. I was hooked up for 2 hours or so and the baby did wonderfully!! So wonderfully that they didn't even do another biophysical on the ultra-sound!! The doc there said that she can't believe our baby is only a 29 weeker because she did so well!!! So out of 3 doctors we saw yesterday.... 2 told me how great the baby is doing and the 3rd told me I am supposed to worry! I just HATE this doctor!! You don't tell a pregnant woman, especially one who has suffered a loss, to be very concerned, unless there is really something serious to worry about. I am going to talk to my regular doctor next week about them, to see if we want to continue. This started out that the NST's were for my piece of mind, and obviously they are not helping with that! |
