Welcome to Faith Based Mentoring!

My name is Derrick Raju and I am the ministry coordinator of FBM as well as assistant ministries director of "This Side of the Rock Fellowship" in Fortuna, California.

Faith Based Mentoring, a ministry of "This Side of the Rock Fellowship", is in partnership with Redwood Community Action Agency to bridge the gap between the secular and faith communities with the goal being to recruit and train motivated mentors from Humboldt County churches and introduce them into the lives of children of jail and prison inmates and other at-risk conditions. These children, their families, and the staff at RCAA have all come to the realization that we in the faith community offer something that they need. That need is for people of faith to step forward and offer themselves as role models, guides, teachers and friends for children who need and want to see an adult in a position of trust.

FBM mentors will have the option of choosing to be placed in several established mentor programs coordinated through RCAA. These programs include: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, Eureka High's Project STEM, just to name a few.

We are asking churches to do "mission" work here in Humboldt County and let the light of Christ shine through in a relationship with a child.
