The Fairy Festival started in 2005 when a lady named Cynthia came back from England with an idea. During her travels in England, she had attended a fairy faire, and upon returning to Oregon, was determined to create a similar magical event here in America. She called on her friends to help organize the event, and her friends called on their friends, and as this group of fairy lovers joined together they called themselves, simply, "Friends of Fairies."
The event was not created with profit in mind, but was intended only to be a magical place for other fairy lovers (for there are many!) to come and play. Cynthia continues to channel all of the ticket money right back into supplies for the following year so that the event can become more amazing each year. Last year, a donation was made to the Nature Concervancy to protect the Camassia natural area in West Linn, a special fairy spot. Each year, Friends of Fairies will continue to contribute part of the proceeds to causes that protect and preserve nature.
