| What We're Learning! Respecting The Garden, Respecting Our Bodies This lesson introduces how we act in our "outdoor classroom;" the garden! Kids of every grade will talk about things we will always do in the garden to be respectful (for example, we will always touch plants gently... we will always walk... etc.). We will then talk about how we can respect our bodies by giving it exercise, getting enough sleep, preparing for the weather, and eating healthy foods. Kids in K-3 classes will act out a Russian Folktale called "The Turnip" about working together to pull out a turnip plant. Kids in 4-6 classes will complete challenges to practice communication and teamwork. As we do in every class, every student will have a tasty and healthy snack (this month it is apples). We will finish with everyone planting a turnip or carrot seed! |
