Reiki Healing

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is the Japanese word for the Universal Life Energy that permeates and sustains our entire world. There is an infinite source of this energy, creating and supporting all of us, the animals, the planets plus a lot more that is unseen by us. This one uniting energy has been used by many cultures in a variety of ways, for example Tai Chi, Acupuncture and Yoga. Since ancient times various forms of the Reiki healing system have been used throughout Japan, Tibet, India and other countries. In the mid-twentieth century Mikao Usui re-introduced this ancient healing system in Japan, which is now practiced in all parts of the world.

Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-invasive form of hands-on healing that increases energy, reduces pain, and produces deep relaxation and a general feeling of well being. It is a completely natural healing method that accelerates the body, mind and spirit's healing process. Reiki healing sessions naturally encourage holistic health and well being, balance, purpose and spiritual harmony. The receiver of Reiki healing doesn't need a problem to benefit from a Reiki session. Reiki is great for relaxation and improving the overall health and well being of a person. The benefits of regular Reiki sessions are countless and they completely encompass the mind, body and spirit connection thus increasing the quality of life in every aspect.

Reiki is not a substitute for appropriate medical or psychological treatment and it should be used as a compliment to conventional forms of medical treatment. Reiki is a safe and gentle method of bringing in healing energy from the Universal Life Energy supply through the use of ancient healing energy techniques to help build more personal energy, vitality, resilience, and improved health. Its most profound effect is an almost immediate feeling of deep relaxation, resulting in a reduction in stress. Reiki can help you improve your mind and body by learning more of your inner self and by giving more to yourself. You can learn to share Reiki healing energy with others as well as anything else that you can imagine including pets and plants. Reiki practitioners can even send Reiki over a distance, sometimes thousands of miles, and still achieve beneficial effects. Reiki is being used more and more in conjunction with traditional medical practices.

The Reiki Principles are a set of traditional guidelines that are essential to the Reiki system and are all common sense ideas for bringing harmony into our lives, yet our society doesn't usually consider them necessary. Living by these principles is not as easy as one might think. That is why the Reiki Principles are written to specifically remind you to take one day at a time, and simply do your best to follow the principles each day. Our healing attempts become far less effective when we fail to employ these concepts in our daily lives, simply because we lose our bond with the Universal Life Energy. To make the healing experience more rewarding for the practitioner and the person receiving the healing both should try and follow these principles.

Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will not be angry
Just for today, I will live honestly
Just for today, I will respect the oneness of all life
Just for today, I will be kind to everyone I meet
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings

Individuals wanting to follow these Principles may find the following explanations of them useful.

(1) Anxiety is not healthy. Nothing good is gained through worrying.
(2) It is better to stay calm than to have stress and anger rule your life, mind and emotions.
(3) It's difficult to maintain self-respect without living honestly.
(4) If you respect and are kind to all things, your efforts will generally be reciprocated.
(5) If you respect and are kind to others, your efforts will generally be reciprocated.
(6) If we focus on the things we appreciate in life, we will not be so disturbed by the inconveniences and difficulties.
