Albion Coast Cup 2004
I am attending a Blood Bowl convention in Southampton in August and decided to bring along a 'door prize' of a pitch. It was made from a 2' x 3' x 3mm (I love English DIY shops and their measurements, a mat of flocking, some green baize, a couple of lengths of edging, and the liberal use of a Sharpie, Tipp-Ex (that's Wite-Out to the folks in the US) and glue. A piece of clear styrene was used to make a template of the squares of the board. After it was marked, I used a heated pin to make holes at all of the intersections. Finally, I marked out the squares on the new pitch with the Sharpie, making lines with the Tipp-Ex. The baize is used on the underneath of the pitch so the board won't scratch tables when used.
Above - the board after being marked out but before designs/decorations are added.

I had made the pitch and was feeling pretty happy about it all in all. I showed it to a few people for comments, suggestions, etc. Then Hoomin Erra said 'Could you fit a couple of dugouts on it?' Now given the concept of people signing their names around the border, I really couldn't do that. However the more I thought about it, the more I realized that other people would say 'Where are the dugouts?'. So I figured I better make some. Going the (relatively) quick and easy route, I went into Robert Dyas (DIY/household knick-knack shop) and bought two guady, yet cheap melanine trays. The plan was to cover them with matting and mark them as dugouts.
These are the results... They look like little hills and when the match is over, turn them over for swinging 50's style drinks trays. After ideas like this, I do wonder if my wife will get me sectioned...
